I noticed that there seems to be a huge disconnect from the continuous influx of new users and past forum topics--perhaps due to the taxonomical structure of the forum, perhaps due to the diverse linguistic backgrounds everyone comes from (the intrinsic nature of online language-learning).
Would it be good to have a section for stickied topics that users can vote on as most useful, or perhaps have users be able to customize their own sticky lists as part of their profiles? Don't know how much control Fabrice has over the forum structure... In fact, don't really know much about forums in general, so I'm on a limb here.
But there's a lot of 'large' topics that we constantly refer to and that get buried, and while they do often pop back up on the 'recent/24hrs' lists and while we can do searches to find them or request that some topics be stickied, seems like there could be better ways.
These might be useful: http://punbb.informer.com/wiki/punbb13/extensions

Wiki sounds like a good idea! It could solve the problem of getting the same questions reposted every week, since there would be a very handy resource they could read instead
I think Wiki's are great, and I think there is some really valuable content on this forum that would be great in wiki form.
But I wouldn't count on them solving this problem at all.
Lets face it, people are lazy. There is already a search function in the forum.
And have you ever looked at the questions on the Anki mailing list? There are many many questions which get the response "please see the anki wiki".
Eh. "Lazy" ppl love wikis. It makes their lives easier. Just look at the state of journalism today! ;p Besides, the Anki wiki is just one example of wikiness. And personally I don't think it's a very accessible one, in terms of layout and nomenclature. Doesn't seem to be collaborative, either.
Here's the example of the perfect wiki: http://xkcd.com/609/
