I sometimes get stuck away from my home computer, so I may need to do my daily reviews using my phone.  Someone on the site recommended the Sunfire browser, and it pretty well works.  I'm basically happy with that.  However, I did run into a few quirks, which I hope you may be able to help me out with.

I'm using a Motorola Q9c smartphone, running Windows Mobile 6.1, and the Sunfire browser.  So, this does not use a touch screen.  It has a rocker button that can move the cursor around the screen, and a button in the center of the rocker to click and double click whatever is under the cursor.  Click and hold is basically the way to get to a "right click" menu.  It also sports a full QWERTY keyboard.

One quirk is on the Study page.  There is a search box to the left there, where you can enter numbers, or keywords.  Next to that is a set of "next/previous" scroll buttons, which only work after some kanji has been "found".  In Sunfire, I can click the buttons, and I can type keywords in the text box, but there is no way (that I know of) to get the phone to say "go!"  I've tried the "carriage return" key, that has that right angle arrow on it, similar to what is found on the right side of the PC keyboard, above shift and below \.  This key typically has the word "enter" also on it, but the phone doesn't have the word.  Typing in a number or keyword and pressing the next button brings me to the keyword "one".  I can scroll thru one by one as much as I like.

This next quirk may be related.  On the review page, there are 3 buttons at the bottom (4 actually).  One says "show kanji" and the shortcut key is "blank or f", another says "No" and the shortcut key is N.  The next one says "Yes" and the shortcut key is Y.  The 4th one is "Easy" and the shortcut key is E.  None of these shortcut keys work either, so there may be a theme here.  "Shortcut keys don't work" on a phone.  Or at least not on this phone.  Or I just don't know how to do it right.

Any hints or techniques for getting the shortcut keys to work (in general), or something that I can do specifically to get the search box to work on the Study page?

I have the exact same problem on my phone (a blackberry 9630). I try to review while on the road but it's so frustrating. I've tried it with both my Blackberry Browser and with the Mini Opera browser. I keep having to change my bookmark to the last frame number I reviewed, and that works alright-ish IF it lets me log in successfully (I'm about to post an entirely separate thread concerning this lovely issue).

So to recap, then, on my phone's browser it is impossible for me to press SEND in the frame number look-up field.
Furthermore, if I view the page in "column view" (a setting on many mobile browsers that smash pages into a column, surprisingly tongue), I can't even see the arrow keys. If I view it in page view, however, then I can at least see the arrows. And press them! That's a hassle though.

I saw on this forum that someone had posted a thread complaining about the site having no "GO!" button, or something, for the look-up field. Then people responded with "well that's unnecessary anyway." I agree with this while using a computer, because the enter button does, of course, work. But as using the RTK site to study is ideal for some, it's quite unfortunate that there is no "GO!" button. sad
I haven't tried reviewing on my phone yet for lack of bravery and patience, haha.

Yeah, the shortcut keys don't work on mine either.  It's probably the browser's problem because this site wasn't designed with phones (w/ accompanying browsers) in mind AT ALL.  I think Fabrice mentioned somewhere that he's working on making the next version of the site more compatible with mobile browsers.

That'll be the day.

Well that's comforting, at least. smile
Honestly, I'd be quite content with a simple (or perhaps not-so-simple?!) submit button for the frame look-up field.

Just gotta be patient, I suppose.

Sheeyit. That last post was me. I'm trying to figure out my aforementioned and much-more-problematic login problem.

This post is pretty useless. Disregard it. Haha
