The review page for this says:
3rd edition: Rumor
4th edition: Explanation

I have the 4th edition. It's Rumor.

It is used frequently in 説め = せつめ=explanation or theory

Just for comparison, I have 5th edition, 2nd printing (2008).  Mine says Explanation.

Also just for comparison, the copyright page says that the 5th edition 1st printing was 2007, and 4th edition, 22nd printing was 2006.

That's せつめい(説明).

It's definitely better to use Explanation. Rumor makes easier stories, but 説 (setsu) means explanation, and is used in such words as 説明. It's definitely the most common use of the kanji.

Funny, actually 説 means 'say' and 明 'understand(among others)' put them together 説明 and you have 'explanation' smile
