I am doing KO2001 slowly compared to you (I hit frame 450).
If you mark the cards "hard", the ease begins to go down, until it becomes 1.30. This causes the card to show up very frequently in the reviews, and the only way to solve it, is to mark them easy, to increase the "ease" level again.
But I agree in the need to review the cards right after learning, so what I do is this: I use the Cram option, I study in lots of 10 kanji (~30 cards), I create a cram deck with these 30 cards, and review it separately for aprox 1 week, then I unsuspend those cards in the main deck and erase the temporary cram deck.

100 unseen Core 6000 cards left.

Edit: In response to jacf29, below: Yes, I did Core 2000 first.
10 days to go at my current pace. (Edit: Changed pace. 4 days to go, now.)

I just finished playing through エチャンッとアーム. Tis the fist full-Japanese game I've managed to finish. I also managed to fully understand the plot. ^^

i've been slacking hard and a bit preoccupied since August, mainly just watching drama, with english subs, and not adding much to SRS.
But, i dld all the core6K vocab yesterday to see how much i can read without context now... got through 1000 cards yesterday, spent about 5 hours collecting sentences, went to town, and still found time to watch drama.
It feels so nice to work hard again! smile
its also nice to realise i still picked up some language as a slacker...

Say what!? Keep this up and you'll be passing me in know time. (if your head doesn't blow up before then) wink

Can't say for sure, but Anki seems to suggest something like 5.3 months.

A small achievement: I've been doing all input, no output until just recently when I began communicating with natives on Skype. I was a little proud of myself when I tried to conjugate なる like a regular v-1 verb, rather than a v-5, and I knew it sounded wrong. I immediately corrected myself without even stopping to think about the conjugation rules for v-5. Horray!

Finished my 4th subs2srs "花より団子". Now I'm going to finish Tae Kim advanced sentences, and the first 100 sentences of Kanzen Master 2 prior to starting my 5th subs2srs "秒速5センチメートル".

So, that puts about 1000 sentences into my Drama Deck (still trimming cards from it from all four shows). In my Vocabulary Deck, I've activated about 2900 words.

Finished my first novel in Japanese (translation of The Witches by Roald Dahl: http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E9%AD%94%E5%A5 … amp;sr=8-1). I finally focused on just one book (instead of reading like 8 at once), read it around my work schedule and finished in 3 weeks.  And right on the day I finished it, my next one (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) arrived!

um... somehow i seem to have made a huge jump in listening. at first i thought it was the drama i was watching, but i've watched 3 now that have been the same. I can suddenly keep up with everything they're saying, and if i don't know a word, it doesn't matter too much cos i understand the rest of the sentence. they're simple & clear dramas, but... big_smile!!

That's incredible; you can understand dramas already!!!

Please please pleeease could you make a post about your study methods (if you haven't already). Really interested in how you're doing it; all I know is you've been studying for about a year, you didn't finish RtK and you're hardcore at adding new cards to Anki.

Finished out Tae Kim (last 100 sentences from Advanced Section). That puts me at 2970 sentences for my vocabulary deck.

I've also changed my vocabulary deck and how I review it slightly. First, I removed the photos from the Core 2000 cards. Reason for that is the pictures were giving a bit too much away for some (not all, some) of the cards. Second is for the Tanuki sentences, I created dictation cards for them. At first, these were just reading cards. Third is now I only write down the words if I miss the cards (dictation or reading), so no more writing on the dictation cards except for visualizing the right kanji. These three changes made my reviews more difficult, but go much faster.

Now it's onto dissecting "5cm Per Second" which was a beautiful anime I first saw two years ago. That's followed by 100 sentences from Kanzen Master 2, then "Around 40 ep 1", then next 100 sentences from KM2, then "Ryuusei no Kizuna ep 1".

My hope (well, expectation) is that dissecting dramas (and doing KM2) gets faster and faster due to less new words. By the time I've completed KM2 and 7 more dramas, I can see being fairly fluent in Japanese. Fluent being a loaded term on this forum.

108 KM2 grammar points in 4 days big_smile Can't believe I didn't know this stuff! If it weren't for the test I would have taken soooo long to discover most of it too. Knocking out the other ~90 over the next 3 days tongue

Seeing that I'll be diving into those after my next J-Drama, how are you approaching these sentences/grammar points?

Using my PDF of KM2kyuu I'm highlighting all the point's and copy them, search in the dictionary of grammar deck and choose activate the sentences I want to use for that point. If theres a really good one that's very clear to me I add it in to the deck too. So it's pretty much 3/4 from dict of grammar deck and 1/4 from KM2kyuu. Works out i'm doing 100 sentences a day over 27 points.

It's cool cos I'm able to understand about 1/2 the monolingual grammar definitions big_smile the dictionary of grammar has English translations and those help me understand the grammar points where I don't understand the definition. It's working really well.

Funny thing is, after I'm finished my grammar study, I'll be doing nothing but watching drama and doing practice exams xD

Icecreamさん、おめでとうございます!!!!
I am planning on talking that rout after RTK1 and I have a few questions:
1) Was the order of words too difficult?
2) Was the vocabulary balanced and well spread out?
I would like your opinion of the program. ^__^
