how to follow threads without subscribing?

I don't really like getting so many emails from the subscribe-to-thread function.

Is there any way to just have a list of threads that I'm watching?  And access that list easily?

What do the experienced forumers in here do?

You can subscribe to this site's RSS feed and create a tag for your favorite topics. The only problem is, you'll need something like Better Greader or an equivalent Greasemonkey script -if you use Google Reader - to make it easier to handle, since this site's RSS feed shows only the header and not the main content of each thread.

Just keep visiting the "recent topics" list every few hours. I do that for every forum I frequent.
