I have a signature in my personal profile, but it doesn't ever show up in posts - and I've noticed no one else seems to have one.  Is there some kind fo feature I need to enable to see signatures?  I'm a technology n00b - sry tongue.

I'm glad there are no signatures. So many other forums are screwed up by people with ridiculous signatures. I feel like this forum is fine without them. Your name is on every single one of your posts, and you get to customize the kanji in your icon. For me, that's enough.

Mhh.. I wouldn't mind having signatures, but it seems like it's turned off...
It would be quite cool if you could have a chart showing the percentage of kanji learned and other info displayed so people can show of big_smile

That's a pretty good idea, a one line plaintext signature, the info could be parsed from the database to show how far into RTK you are.

So you'd have hundreds of members with '2042' as their sig?

I second that.

That would actually be good, a running forum I used to be part of has a counter at the bottom, for seeing how many kilometres you had run that month. Having a little bar at the bottom seeing how far the way through RTK would actually be really interesting, I thought. Although it looks like most people are opposed to the idea.

Signatures suck. They are a blight upon most forums where they are full of annoying graphics and stats no one cares about (My Nintendo DS is black, hooray. Here are realtime stats of the last 5 songs I played in iTunes, hooray. etc). I'm glad most people have chosen to use characters as their avatars instead of annoying animated gifs.

I'd be open to having badges on the left hand side where it has your post count though. Silver for RTK1, Gold for RTK3? Portrait of Mao for RTH? A realtime current-progress number isn't a meaningful indicator with the new site since you can add out of order though.

I suppose there could be JLPT badges etc too but there is no easy way to verify it other than to trust the user.

Signatures are disabled as part of forum administration settings. The option is still there because I don't want to mess up with the default PunBB package. Every change (more like "'hack" in the PunBB code makes it more difficult to upgrade the forum with patches. Feel free to use the signature option to store your to do list or something wink
