I won't ruin any plot points for you, but i'll guess that you won't be loving it by season 3, when they've run out of ideas. whole episodes go by without anything coherant happening. and a character gets kidnapped and released about 5 times for no real reason other than they have nothing else for him to do at the minute and they don't want him dead or forgotten about.

I don't think i can stomach season 4.

If you don't believe, this is your problem. I can't force you to believe me.

But remember, if one is familiar with many languages and linguistics in general, he may know many things about a specific language even if he did not study it seriously.

He may know things you don't know (you who study it seriuosly), but this does not mean that he studied the language like you. For example, if I know that the nanori reading for a kanji like 希 is nozomi, this does not mean that I studied kanji like you. It might might be used in my girlfriend's name for example.

BTW, what is the meaning of "props"?

I'm well familiar with this show. Once I got to episode 17 (hell-o dramatico) I remembered the series was total ass after that and stopped watching. ^^

Gonna check out other shows that I've come to like but never saw the first few seasons of.

Damn even I didn't know that and I've been hacking at it for almost a year now! (not including RTK)

Credit, respect, recognition,

Did you see how BIG that chick he pulled out the fire was? I really gotta him "props" for that.

Anyone else have the urge to make a "JLPT1 in 3 days, seconds?" thread?

I always wondered where 'props' came from, apparently it derives from 'proper respect' --> 'propers' --> 'props'. http://www.randomhouse.com/wotd/index.p … e=20010213

Thank you for all who explained the word "props".

Not impossible, but it needs a lot of work.

Seriously, passing JLPT4 is possible in 3 days, but only memorizing the vocabulary of JLPT1 is possible in 3 days. Which is easier, memorizing 10,000 words in 3 days or memorizing 4140 meaningless binary digits in 30 minutes (or 16560 digits in 2 hours)? (many normal people can do both especially the first one)

If it was a vocabulary test for English speakers (i.e. asks the English meanings of Japanese words or vice versa), it would be possible to pass it in 3 days, but with the listening part, the kanji, and grammar, it's difficult to say that it's possible to pass JLPT1 in 3 days only.

Anyway, I'm currently developing a method to pass JLPT1 in 3 seconds based on old sleep learning methods.

Here we go again♪
I think THIS quote of yours deserves a brand new thread! Now I really heard it all.

That's even faster than my 5-min-instant-fluency-cocktail! yikes

I do have to give you MAD(as in 'a lot') props for coming up with these theories, they are amusing to read actually, so you did achieve something at least big_smile

Sometimes threads maybe should be closed not because of reasons of copyright infringement or the possibility of heated exchanges, but as a offering of mercy.

Superb, you've taken this topic to a new high (low)!

If you want to retain any form of validity at all in your argument that one can pass JLPT1 in 3 months, which is already absurd, you should probably not keep making these hilarious hyperboles.

I apologize big_smile for fueling Ahibba's bold statements! I even asked him to start a new thread without thinking what kind of consequences that may have. Please Abibba have mercy, don't start a new one, I was only joking...!

Don't be so harsh Tobberoth♪, we all know he's having a ball and isn't actually serious about this. It's called trolling at its best, he passed that one in 3 DAYS, yes.

Closure please! CLOSURE!

How in the name of Pablo do you maintain 10,000 words that you learned in 3 days. Even if you count conjugations as words that's still a hell of a load to keep up with.

That's easy. Day 1: 3333 words; Day 2: 3333 words; Day 3 3334 words

@ahibba: Since you're obviously not a native English speaker, how long have you been studying English for?

It's not good to attack others if you don't agree with their opinions.

Memorizing 10,000 words in 3 days does not ensure that you will maintain them forever. You must review them regularly if you want to remember them, unless you memorized them for other purposes (e.g. to pass a specific test or a memory championship).

Sometimes I do this for fun as challenges with my friends. (not memorizing 10,000 words in 3 days, but something like memorizing the answers of 1000 questions in history, mostly dates, in 1 day or memorizing the names of 300 drugs in 1 hour).

But who is "Pablo"?

travis wrote:

I haven't studied English in a formal way yet. I'm planning to do next year (maybe after finishing my 3 months experiment).

But since 4 years I'm just reading English e-books, Wikipedia articles, without any supporting audio.

Today, I can read almost anything written in English (sometimes with the aid of dictionaries). Even though, I can't order a pizza by phone! (I know how to write the order, but I'm not good at speaking because I don't listen to English, whether it's news on TV or radio, or even music.)

How in the name of Pablo.... is my personal variation of "how/what in the name of Jesus!"

Don't really know what it means, though. If I had to guess, the matter at hand is so unbelievable it must have been done "in the name of Jesus."

I know that it is a variation of "how in the name of Jesus", but why Pablo? and who is this Pablo?

Well I'm not sure, but it seems for memorizing binary digits there are techniques - like you pre-learn keywords that represent binary patterns - say just 256 keywords, that already cuts the list from 4140 meaningless digits to memorizing 517 words in order.  The more keywords you pre-learn the better you can get at this game.

Anyway, for learning a language is more than a memory game.
