Hello everyone.

I'm in the market for a new phone, and I thought I might as well get a smartphone to browse the web, do SRS reviews, use as a 電子辞書, etc.  Only problem is that, aside from the iPhone, I can't find any recent smartphones that support display or input of Japanese characters.  I've seen a few websites showing methods of hacking the phones to do so, but I don't want to chance bricking my phone, not to mention that it seems to be a crap shoot if it would work on any particular model.

Since there is a particular phone I want (Omnia HD), I'd prefer info on Japanese input on the S60 v5, but given how new it is (the Omnia isn't out in the US, I believe), I'm willing to settle for any other phones that support Japanese input aside from the iPhone (there are issues where I live with it working on my network, and I have a vendetta against Apple anyway. tongue )

With the last couple of updates my Android based G1 has been pretty good for Unicode display/input (input is via a free app called JSandBox, no native Japanese IME yet).

Again, no native J-J dictionary.  I'm not at that stage myself (still using J-E dictionary) and I just point the browser to jisho.org wink
