How long has this been in the lower left corner of the Forums front page?

Nice. Very nice.

Now I want more. More! I want the content of the forum post in the RSS feed, so that my reader shows paragraphs of text like this:
http://ziggr.com/img/heisig/rss-azuma2.jpg

Instead of metadata spewage like this:
http://ziggr.com/img/heisig/rss-rtk2.jpg

Then I could skim the posts within my reader.

Yes I realize I'm being greedy. Yes I know I'm a vocal fan of the "don't change a thing" feature request. But if you're gonna make an RSS feed, might as well make it a useful feed, custom-tailored to my greedy desires. ^_^

Hmmm, let's see... about 36 hours or so wink  I tidied up the forum and finished what was begun months ago, namely I finished the layout of the Profile, User List, Search and Search Results pages. I've still got my fridays off as I had planned but it took me a while to get organized working at home, but I'll get down to it eventually. Anyways, I'm really happy I finally got something done.

Technically the RSS output has always been present in the punBB forum package, but there was no explicit links to it.

I updated Firefox to version 2, and tried punBB's RSS output with the "Live Bookmark" feature out of curiosity. So now I can check whether there are any new posts or discussions in a dropdown menu in Firefox without actually going to the forum.

Here are some examples of RSS feeds you can point to:

Output the 15 most recently active topics

Output the 15 newest topics from the RTK1 > General Discussion forum

You can change the fid=n part in the above URL to get the same for the other forums.

Regarding the RSS output, good point! I'll have a look at it. This shouldn't be too hard but I won't be looking at it until January 5 or so.

I've just started using the http://ziggr.com/img/heisig/rtk-rss.png feed in Google Reader, and it's only notifying me of new topics, not new posts in existing topics. Is there any way I can change this? I'm not sure if it's a problem with Google Reader or the feed.

It's probably the feed iself, it's the basic functionality that is included in phpBB. I'll have to look out for a RSS mod for punBB that has more features..

I would like to second ziggr's request. It would be great if I could read the actual post in my reader instead of just the title.

Use Better GReader add-on for Firefox. It is a collection of Greasemonkey scripts, including one that does just what you wish. smile

By the way, the add-on is Firefox 3 compatible. big_smile
