Do "failed cards" automatically turn into "expired cards"?

I have just started using the RevTK SRS, so I want to ask if the failed cards automatically become expired cards if I just leave it there. Or am I only be able to review the failed cards again after I press the "Learned" button in the study section? If it's the latter, are there any ways I can review the failed cards without pressing the "Learned" button?

Hi tiachopvutru, welcame to RevTK.

The idea behind the failed pile is that you check each kanji at the study page, make corrections to their stories - if needed - and then click the "learned" button and they enter the reviewing cycle again. In other words, failed cards don't expire, they wait for you to re-study them.

If you would prefer to review them directly by clicking the red pile, there is a Greasemonkey script that does just that. It is called Review Failed and you can download it here.

If you don't know what Greasemonkey is, it is a Firefox extension that allows you to use scripts to modify the behavior of a website.

Furthermore, there is also a Firefox extension called Firemonkey, which helps you to find Greasemonkey scripts that work on the website you are currently visiting. If you install it and enter to the study and review section of this site you'll find out that there are other great Greasemonkey scripts, that allow you to change the font used to display kanji, edit the keywords as you wish, among other functions.

Thank you for your informative post.

I have figured as much about failed cards, but I thought I could always go to the Study section if I ever want to contemplate about the effectiveness of the story for the failed cards.

Also, I assume you mean Greasefire instead of Firemonkey =p

You can. The difference is that failed cards have a "Learned" button to send them to the first pile, while "non-failed" cards don't.

Doh!

You're right. -_-"
