Hi -
I am looking for a way to add cards to my deck in the order I choose...
yes, i know that you are supposed to learn in the order suggested by Heisig...
but there are always exceptions to that rule...

I come accross Kanji in a random order in my study of acupuncture and I want to learn them as I go without having to wait until I have "filled up"  along Heisig's order -
I usually then go back and learn the necessary primitives and the surrounding Kanji - not just the kanji I am learning for my studies.

Is there a script or a method anyone has found for this?

many thanks

sk

As far as I know you can't add cards in non-Heisig order on RevTK. You could, however,  do it with Anki: http://ichi2.net/anki/wiki/Plugins#Impo … koohii.com

i would like to know this as well. I have turned to physical flash cards now smile since i've learnt at least 100 cards out of order now and I plan to learn even more.

Maybe furabisu is going to implement it in his new site

Learning them out of order isn't a very good idea, the order was planned by Heisig to be as effective as possible. If you found some kanji ahead of time which you want to remember, I'd say stick that kanji in a separate Anki deck and keep your focus on Heisigs order.

If you are planning on going all the way through RTK3 then adjusting the order a bit makes sense as so many of the kanji from there are building blocks for RTK1

Many thanks for the Anki tip - am looking into it now.

1.  Basically I would prefer to use one flash-card system if possible.  The reason why I want to be able to add cards if possible is that I dont simply learn the one "acupuncture" kanji in isolation - I usually end up learning 10-15 other kanji along with it - (usually a mix of primitives in the "acupuncture" kanji (if there are any I dont yet know) and other kanji which are close to it in Heisigs order....      ....this means that I might learn a group of 10 to 15 kanji at say, card number 1500, whe I am only at 700 -800 in the book...

2.  I have an iPhone - if possible I would like to use an SRS which i can use on the iphone  - i dont mind if it is online only - and therefore it seemed a good idea to stay with the Kanjikoohii review site.
What I want to avoid is having one review system for PC and one for iPhone with no sync between then of what has been reviewed.....
is Anki the best approach for that or has someone found a better solution...? (I am guessing this might be answered in another topic - apologies if it is...)

I am looking into 2 above and will post any useful results i find if someone has not already done so.

I don't have an iPhone but I guess Anki is a good choice:

You could also just use the Anki web interface of course.

.... ok - looks like Anki (together with iAnki for the iPhone if that combination is working well as set out here : http://ichi2.net/anki/wiki/iAnki) is probably the solution.

just seems a shame to leave the koohii site which is the source of the cards and ideas in the first place.

many thanks to all for your quick responses.

I'll use anki when i get to studying more complex stuff. For now I feel like i get so much more progress done with physical flash cards. I can't stand using pda's (mine kept ******* up), I do about 3 hours of travel each day, and im liking the idea of cards ==> Old school and cute smile
