So I accidentally clicked on a link in Facebook today, which took me to this web game that was being advertised called Travian.  Interestingly, the first page defaulted to Japanese (I live in Japan) and, as it turns out, you can play the entire game in Japanese.

Also, you could just as easily switch it over to English (or what seems to be a ton of other languages).

Not sure how fun it is, as I've been messing with it for like...  30 minutes...  but it seems somewhat cool. smile

For example, my first quest.

クエスト1: きこり

あなたの村の周りには4つの緑の森があります。きこりの1つを作ってください。新しい建物を建てるのに木は重要です。”

命令:
きこりを作る

Thanks for the link, it looks entertaining (can't try it out just yet, as am supposed to be working...). Seems that could be a fun way to pick up some new words (think I've got 'woodcutter' just from trying to figure out the message).

I was thinking that online games could be useful earlier today, as I came across these simple flash games, of the escape from a room point-and-click adventure type (while trying to discover, weirdly enough, if 'ネズミ花火' were so called because of something to to with mice/rats or not):

I learned such essentials as the word for squirrel and how to say 'a mountain of junk' from them.

Perhaps there should be a topic for online Japanese games.
