I was going through the schedule of the programs on jwave radio today and noticed that some shows have weird time schedules. For example one show, "TOKYO REAL-EYES", is said to be on from 24:30 - 28:00. I assume that means 00:30 - 04:00, but is that correct and what is the exact point of this?

It's a trick to avoid having to change the day. For example, a show that will start on Thursday at 24:30 is technically starting on Friday at 00:30 of the "morning". But the idea is that would be confusing since people still consider that to be part of Thursday night.

Yeah I've seen the same thing on bar/restaurant schedules, they're listed as closing at 25:00.  Perhaps the Japanese like it that way because it helps them avoid thinking about how sleep deprived most of them seem to be.
