whenever I try to type in japanese only あいうえお will appear even if I input something else, like for example KA only あ will appear and then after 2 minutes or so I can not type anything at all.

I have all the files installed on windows xp for Japanese input and it was working just fine until yesterday.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try clicking the "kana" button in the language bar. Or running a virus scan.

Edit: It seems I can't recreate this. You have to reinstall something.

I can type perfectly fine when I hit the kana button, is there any possible way of fixing this without reinstalling files from the disk?

So hitting the kana button solves the problem? If so, I say just go with it...

Also, that last post should have read "you may have to reinstall something." Don't know why it came out like that.

To get qwerty input try alt + ` or alt + shift. Also, if you right click the language bar and go to "restore the language bar" there should be a button that reads "Input Mode." Putting this on direct input should give you qwerty as well.

Is this happening on another computer?

no I mean using qwerty layout to input japanese, so like typing k then a to get か

and other computers are ok

I found another example of your problem online, but unfortunately no answer.

Soo... Click "input styles" and then "properties."

In the menu that opens up you should see a big button with RGB bars that says advanced under it. Click it. Then click the tab that says romaji-kana conversions.

What do you see in the big white space? Also, are you using any other IME along with the m$ one?
