It's in there for 漢字 purposes, of course.
Yeah, it's a good sentence for repetition of kanji and grammar and stuff. I mean, just knowing the word "店員" is enough to say the sentence serves a purpose. And then there's the reinforcement of a common word, "突然".
Not necessarily a sentence to memorize and "use" later or something. But who knows, there might come a situation...
