On the main page :http://subs2srs.sourceforge.net/ there is a screen shot of a haruhi card. Unfortunately, that deck is not linked in the wiki for sharing.

Does anybody have this deck, and would you be willing to share? I'd love to take a look at it.

I want a sample deck for everything I've ever watched, including variety shows and comedy sketches.

Just make a sample deck for like 100 things and by the time you finish you'll be Enlightened.

forgive for the clueless question!

trying to try out the toki wo kakeru shoujo deck. I extract it alright, but can`t see any of the media or pictures. The media file appears to be with the main anki deck when I extract it and the name is the same. Have I missed a step?

any help, much appreciated.

Edit.
solved...i changed to dropbox a long time ago and now anki automatically searches there for the media. It`s been ages since I added a new deck so forgot.

CB,

I've been ripping audio from dramas to add subtitles, and with the exception of one drama, all are not adding the subtitles to the lyric format.

I've been using the d-addict subtitle files. The file that worked was a .ASS file while the others were .SRT formats. I wondered if it was that some were not UTF-8, but that did not help. Any ideas?

I would appreciate it if you could email the subtitle file that worked and a couple of subtitle files that didn't work so I can investigate. Thanks.

Thanks to CB's help it turns out there was no problem with subs2srs.

A word of warning for those doing audio extraction and attaching subtitle lyrics: It appears if you use Windows 7 and try to do bulk editing to properties such as changing names of albums or artists, the lyrics file gets deleted for some reason.

For most, this is not a problem. However, I tended to prefer not having underline marks which led to this annoying discovery.

PS: The audio extraction with attaching subtitles has been really successful with my wife. She enjoys listening to Sex and the City on her iPod while reading along during her commute. Thanks CB for implementing it.

I'm only getting about half the screenshots for any given DVD rip... e.g. I'm ripping Tiger and Dragon episode 7. I get 783 mp3 files and sub PNG files (and Anki facts), but only 417 JPG pictures... This happens consistently, with all the Tiger and Dragon rips I try, not just Tiger and Dragon Episode 7.

fyi I'm ripping screenshots and audio directly from files in VIDEO_TS folder from the Tiger and Dragon DVDs.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the report. To be honest I haven't done much testing with DVDs. I'll look into it.

I had a similar problem. In my case, it was caused by some issue with my ripping method. When I played the video I realised the total playing time indicated was about half the actual running time. Sure enough, the pictures produced by subs2srs only went as far as the indicated time, whereas the PNG subs and audio went to the end. Once I tried different ripping software, I ended up with a perfect deck. Check to see if your indicated and actual running time match up...

I'm having problems getting the Images and Sounds to work.  I have the Anki file in the same directory as the .media file and with the same name.  For example:

Mother Episode 1
\-- Mother_Episode_1.anki
\-- Mother_Episode_1.Media\

When I start up Anki, the fields are correctly sorted but the Snapshots and Audio don't work.  If I edit the card and manually select the appropriate file, they show up with a hashsum.mp3 for the sound file instead of the filename which is already present.

Anyone have any thoughts?

A thought just struck me.  I recently got an iphone so I started using the Custom Media Directory plugin.  I've been trying to make changes to the Media Directory field but none seem to be working.

Update:  Threw the media files into my dropbox public folder and they all started working.  Sorry if I wasted anyone's time.

Thanks for the tip. In my case however I'm using subs2srs to get video and audio directly from the (authentic) DVD, so ripping method isn't an issue..

Hey guys,

Just trying to use VSRip to get the subs right now, and I'm wondering which file I should extract for the subs from my J/E bilingual Fight Club DVD:
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_02_0.IFO
I'm really excited to make these subs (and others soon!) so I'd love your help

Nukemarine,

I'm using vista and it's my first time trying out subs2srs for the audio extraction.  I can't get the subtitles to appear on the properties list.  at first i thought it was because i was using a rmvb file,  but i tried it with a avi.  so i thought you're comment was relevant but didn't quite understand what you meant in "bulk editing".  Am I supposed to keep the same name as the original video file?  Should i move everything to the same temp file like your older video suggested?

Thanks for any help.
this program and your videos are quite a help

Ok it may be considered the height of laziness and rudeness to request this, on the other hand some of us don't have the technical skills that others do regarding creation of content. In any case, my question is this - does anyone have pre-made Anki decks of movies to share, or anyone who has anki decks they are willing to share?

ffmpeg has discontinued support for the croptop, cropbottom, etc functions and has a new method of doing it.  As such snapshots and video clips no longer work on a Linux system with updated ffmpeg libraries (since subs2srs uses the system's install) and will create trouble for Windows if you ever want to upgrade the version of ffmpeg distributed with subs2srs.

I was able to fix the problem with the following patch (verbatim diff output so that `patch` will work, apologies for excessive horizontal length)

Code:

[roark@roark subs2srs]$ diff UtilsVideo.cs ../../orig/subs2srs/subs2srs/UtilsVideo.cs
201c201
< // -y -i "D:\subs2srs\Nogizaka_Haruka_no_Himitsu\Video_1\[BakaWolf-m.3.3.w] Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu 01 (H.264) [F538AC33].mkv" -ac 2 -map 0:0 -map 0:1 -vcodec mpeg4 -vtag xvid -s 320x200 -b 900k -bf 1 -acodec libmp3lame -ab 96k -ss 00:00:07.920 -t 00:24:35.120 -vf crop=320:200:0:0 "C:\Documents and Settings\cb4960\Local Settings\Temp\~subs2srs_temp.avi"

Hello,

I have just released version 21.1 of subs2srs.

Download subs2srs v21.1 via SourceForge

+ Added support for the new 0.6.1 branch of FFmpeg which was introduced on October 18th 2010. (Thanks Overture!)

+ For the Windows version of subs2srs, FFmpeg to has been upgraded to version 25726 (0.6.1 branch)

+ Added force_legacy_ffmpeg to settings.txt. Enable this setting if you are using a pre-0.6.1 version of FFmpeg. This setting is meant for Linux/Mac users who do not want upgrade to the latest version of FFmpeg. In other words, if snapshots/video clips no longer work for you, you can either upgrade to the latest FFmpeg or enable this setting.

+ Added audio_player and audio_player_args to settings.txt. You can use the audio_player setting to tell subs2srs to use an external audio player for the audio preview in the Preview dialog. This was added because some (all?) Mac users were having issues with the player built into subs2srs. (Thanks Nick!)

Note: For 64-bit Mac users, you can download a pre-built FFmpeg from this site. It's the same site where I get the Windows version of FFmpeg. I just never noticed that it also offered a Mac version. To check if you have a 32-bit or 64-bit Mac, see this Apple support page.

If this release broke anything, please let me know.

Looks like Ubuntu 10.10 broke the program for me.
I get this output when I try to start it now:

Code:

no implementation for interface method Atk.TableImplementor::get_SelectedColumns() in class UiaAtkBridge.Table
METHOD .ctor(System.Windows.Automation.Provider.IRawElementProviderFragment)
METHOD RaiseAutomationEvent(System.Windows.Automation.AutomationEvent,System.Windows.Automation.AutomationEventArgs)
METHOD RaiseStructureChangedEvent(object,System.Windows.Automation.StructureChangedEventArgs)
METHOD RaiseAutomationPropertyChangedEvent(System.Windows.Automation.AutomationPropertyChangedEventArgs)

Googling tells me it's an issue with UiaAtkBridge.dll and a modified one will now let the program load, but it crashes when I try to add input.

Any ideas cb4960?

I'll install Ubuntu 10.10 and see if I can replicate it.
