You can just open the anki file with anki. It'll be a new deck by default.

I have tried to import this into a 'test' deck as I did'nt want to mess up my current deck but no image comes up and the audio doesn't work?

You have to move the picture and image files from toki_wo_kakeru_shoujo.media into test.media

Great! Works perfectly now. Thanks.

I have to say thank you for sharing this with us.  This is a really big help.  A lot of useful sentences are in here.

Thanks everyone for the support!

Also, I'll see what I can do about making a more accessible version of subs2srs. That way you can review your favorite movie.

Great stuff! I am learning Chinese (so I would simply delete the "readings"-field). It seems to be a tool/method, which will kick even more ass once you use it in group-efforts. I see already databases full of anki-movie-files piling up smile
Anyhow, can you roughly estimate how much time it takes to rip a movie in this way? (once you are comfortable using it)

Approximate times for each step of the Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo deck:
1)    Demux audio and subtitles from the .MKV file: 2 min
2)    Convert AC3 audio to Anki-friendly MP3: 5 min
3)    Create folder structure: 2 min
4)    Create necessary output formats and run subs2srs: 5 min
5)    Split audio track: 10 min (I think)
6)    Generate snapshots from video: 25 min
7)    Create new Anki deck, move files, and import data: 5 min

Total: about an hour

Of course making a deck for a single movie is the simple case. It would take longer to generate a deck for an entire series. The snapshot generation alone would take about 5 minutes for every 22 minute episode - giving you plenty of time to catch up on your reps. It would probably take another hour to upload to MediaFire if you wanted to share.
