Sharing pod accounts possible?

I was wondering lately... do the pod sites (japanesepod101.com, chinesepod.com, koreanclass101.com) etc check the IP of the members? If not, one could easily share an account between 2-3 people to get a REALLY cheap 1 year subscription.

Does anyone have any experience doing this? I personally don't need a japanesepod101.com account since I feel I'm a bit above their level (at least enough not to need the transcripts) but Chinesepod.com is amazingly good and I really want a paid subscription there...

That's a good question.  I think I remember reading in the TOS that it wasn't allowed, but I'm can't find it now.

I've emailed them to ask about the policy since I've had good luck asking that of other companies.

Back when the jpod101 lessons were free, the only reason to pay for a basic subscription imho was to get the itunes feed making it easier to download.  Now to get the old lessons you need a paid subscription, makes sense for how beneficial they are.

They do not check ip, because what if you log on, on a different computer, they would need to tell you only to use it from your home computer.

I had downloaded all their free content via the feed, and lost all of it when my hard drive failed, i hardly thought i should pay for it again so when a friend of mine did the same thing i used his login to redownload the information i had previously paid for.

We both ran the feeds at the same time and had no problems.

Personally I know this is possible but given how beneficial this site can be... just get a one month basic subscription and pay the 8 bucks for the HOURS AND HOURS of material you recieve, they are doing this as a business.

BTW there is a coupon code for 20% off any subscription, this makes a 1 month about 6 bucks, MORE than worth it. Ask me for details if you want to know where to find it as I am not sure if I am supposed to just post in in a thread wink

It takes about a day or two to download the entire JapanesePod101.com collection of audio files and PDFs using a download manager.

When you sign up for a free account, you get all of the features of a premium account (sans the itunes feeds) for a week.

????

Profit.

The itunes feed was the only thing that I had used on the site!  I toyed around a little with the learning centre but felt it wasn't worth 20some per month personally what I would get out of it and how much I would have used it.  I have other resources already, and with the audio and pdf lessons, I have everything I need from the site.

It's obvious why the itunes feed is not enabled during the trial, even when all the lessons were free and available to download, now it's only the latest lessons and the first couple you can get free, *shrug

vgambit, was this before they reformed their download availability? If I can go download it all again ( more hard drive probs ) I would like to without having to pay up again hehe, but if I need to w/e it's not that much.  Ths itunes feed was super easy though.

I don't really want to download all of the stuff from ChinesePod.com though, what I really want is the online stuff like line by line transcripts with audio etc... but yeah, it's expensive as crap, buying one month and downloading every mp3 and every transcript might be a better idea.

I did this last week. They don't have all of the files in the learning center, so for some of the series, you'll have to go to each page and use DownThemAll, but it only takes a few minutes.

You can download the Torrents which have a lot of files in them.

Didn't even think of torrents lol.. turns out someone has already downloaded all the .mp3s and transcripts and put up online... good stuff smile

Too bad the cut out dialogues aren't included, but those I can make myself in Audacity.
