I have just found http://www.simulradio.jp/ which collects a few stations.

And  http://xorsyst.com/japan/watch-japanese-tv-online/
will let you watch Japanese TV on your computer.

Thank you! This is the first program I've seen which streams Japanese TV even decently.

Live365.com has quite a few decent Japanese music radio stations. That's what I use, anyway. Sometimes the entire site seems to just stop working, but that's not too common.

Dunno whether the Windows version is any better, but with the Linux port the audio and video tend to get annoyingly out of sync... Still, at least there is a Linux port :-)

Does it for me, too, which is why I don't use it

last.fm seems pretty good so far.  I also used to listen to:

http://j-wavemusic.com/

but it's a bit annoying because the afternoon is all reruns (for those of us in the US or on similar timezones.)  The other reason I stopped listening is because ~1/2 of their songs are in English.

No, that's just how the program is. I don't think it syncs properly for anyone. >_>

Japanese streaming TV (with some of the channels being music channels.)

I tried some of those links and I'm not really happy, not even with my own link, haha. Why is it so hard to find a good Japanese web radio with (mostly) Japanese music and Japanese moderation? I'd love to listen to such a station in the background while studying...

Maybe this one....?!   *tunes in*   smile

Edit2: I think THIS IS IT!!! no moderation but Japanese music 24/7 non-stop...

Great! I'll listen to awful JPop for the rest of my life! Wooooohooooooo!!  big_smile

Thanks for that.  There is a LastFM application for iphone, so I don't have to be tied to the パソコン。

AOL radio is also available for iphone, and has a j-pop station, but I don't like j-pop much, and there are annoying ads.  LastFM has a few genres of Japanese music, some of which seem to be listenable.

Okay, so I'm listening to this virtually non-stop. It's only music, no speakers, but like 9 out of 10 songs are in Japanese. The music is pretty mixed and the quality is great compared to other web radios. Up to 128 kb/s mp3! Plus, they say: "...over 25,000 songs and we can broadcast for nearly THREE MONTHS without repeating a single song!"

Highly recommended!   smile

Most radio stations I've found either don't work on Mac or are American radiostations with Japanese music. Grrr...English

Of course asx works on mac. There is a pal of mine here in the lab that uses it.
He recommends VLC, but you can see a better answer here big_smile :

I've been torturing my ears with armitunes.com pretty much constantly, thanks Stoked! ^_^ To think, I'd gone so long without experiencing Shonen Knife singing 'Catnip Dream'....now I'm not sure it will EVER stop...so utterly random, yet so catchy. *Goes to see if I can manage to get a Japanese Japanese song stuck in my head instead*
Will have to check out the others as well.

You're most welcome!

And yeah, torturing is the right word I guess  o.O  but hey, this is all about immersion! hehe. By the way, I think I'm starting to like J-Pop and, to be honest, it's a bit scary. But ehh, whatever....   ;o)

RadioSure is an online radio player for the desktop. Users can add new radios to the database, so you can add any radio you find and listen to all your favorite stations from one place.

My favorite Japanese station is Radio Tsukuba. It has good music and lots of talking. They also have a program were you can listen to 昔話, with great voice acting and all. Some days ago they had a program about 12 year old children talking about which animal they would like to be if they reincarnated. Awesome.

For music (not Japanese), I love SmoothJazz.com.

Only in Japan, it seems. But if I was there I could also just turn on the radio...? Kinda defeats the purpose of internet radio.

"サービス地域外のためラジオを聴くことができません。

radiko.jpは、パソコンがそのままラジオ受信機となる「IP(Internet Protocol)サイマルラジオ」の配信サービスです。

独自コンテンツ、エリア制限なしという通常のインターネットラジオサービスとは異なり、地上波ラジオ放送をCMも含め、そのまま同時に放送エリアに準じた地域に配信するサイマルサービスです。"
