Argh, been away for 1 month with no computer/internet access. I only just finished RTK1 like maybe a week or so before I left. Came back today and now I've got 1200 reviews waiting in Anki.

sad

Options as I see them:

1. Just gun it like crazy and try and get through the 1200 reviews without going insane.

2. Start over with Japanese Keywords (been wanting to do them anyway) and blast through pretty quick.

3. Just forget about it, and start hitting up Kanji Odyssey/sentences.

Suspend them, put 50-100 back in a day. Have a fixed rate, no more, no less.

I stopped doing my reviews after I finished, and when I started again I had 2,000 reviews (pretty much, nearly the whole book). The difference is I reset all the cards though, because I didn't really feel like I'd remember some of them in 5 months time.

Just do the reviews at a fixed amount of time per day. However many reviews you get done is what you get done. In an hour, you can probably do 150 cards if you write them out, or more if you don't (I always suggest writing them out though).  Once all the due reviews are done, start going through the fail pile.

You can also start on KO2001. Nothing saying you can't do both. Again, just set aside a definate amount of time for study/review. Example: Do RTK reviews for 1 hour, Do KO 2001 study/review for 2 hours.

This simple version of time boxing will do wonders for your studying.

I'm with Nuke on this, except I think you should clear the fail pile first every day, and then add more cards.
I let mine build up one time too. It's intimidating, but slowly and surely does it.
