I've noticed that some of the shared stories on this site can be obscene and lewd. But whenever I use those stories, I never EVER forget the Kanji. And yet, for every lewd or crude story, there are 5 or more people reporting them.
What I want to know two things:
1. Have you guys had success with using lewd and obscene humor to remember Kanji?
2. I see 5 or more reports for stories that are especially good (check out the most popular story for 298; 10 reports). What's the big deal? If it helps us remember the kanji, isn't it ok?

Using that kind of story can create ackward moments when you try to show another person the efectiveness of this method, and the kanji you want to explain has one of those perverted stories.
Also, for the rest of your "kanji career" (or life), whenever you encounter that kanji, you will remember the story you used to memorize it. That's why I also recommend against using things that will become obsolete in a five years lapse, like memes, awful singers, current politicians, etc.

I'm not Everyone's spokesperson, so feel free to get offended by what I'm going to say.
It took me more or less one hour to remember all the kana characters. It wouldn't have been possible if I hadn't used my highly sexual imagination.
Here's how I remembered ア. I just looked at it, and saw this picture:

tAnAkA renA (one of my favourite Japanese actresses). Just a split of a second was enough to remember each character.
