So, the title pretty much says it all. I need a program that doesn't follow a SRS algorithm. I need one where I can have a vocab word on the front, and a definition on the back. I need it to be able to just review whenever I need to, and not have to worry about it being scheduled for 2 days later, which would be after my Japanese final and therefore not very helpful towards my grade.

Please tell me someone knows of something like this! I did a quick google search but could only find pay programs, which I don't have the money for right now. So if you know one of the top of your head, please help me out!

Can't think of any off the top of my head
However, Mnemosyne allows you to review ahead of schedule, and I think anki has a cram feature.

If you use Anki it has a "cram" feature where you put in tags you want to review and it creates a deck with super low intervals for cramming.

Meh, classes smothering people's interests again.

Check Vokabel.

Vokabel is a free and user-friendly popular program that helps you to learn words in foreign languages (almost all languages is supported). Write the words you want to learn and let the program test you. You can test your self in many ways, in a simple hearing or in a game. Why not play a game against a friend and learn something in the same time? Vokabel has a lot of functions to make learning more fun and efficient.

The games included can be a lot of fun, and they help you at "speed recognizing" the words.

I use the website Quizlet. http://quizlet.com/

For future reference, I would start using an SRS consistently at the beginning of the semester; that would eliminate the cramming with normal flashcards now.

I second that suggestion... if you actually learn the material, which is what you're supposed to be doing -- especially if you have a genuine interest in Japanese -- you won't need to cram it.

Please don't question my interest in Japanese. I love Japanese. I love everything about the language. It just so happens that this class is required for my major and not only is the teacher awful, but the book is atrocious. I dp many things in my SRS daily, but a lot of the stuff I need to cram now is specific stuff useless outside of the class.

Otherwise, thanks to everyone for their help!

そのような批判は必要じゃない。試験のまえに勉強する特、だれでも詰め込み勉強したことがありますね。毎日、ちゃんとSRSを使うか使わないかは別として、横柄な態度のかわりに本当に手伝った方が良いかも知りませんね。

Nothing wrong with a little 詰め込み勉強. Good luck finding a decent program.

If it's info that you would like to retain into the future, I would highly recommend using Anki's cram feature. This way you don't have to put it into your srs AND another program.

i actually started a highly successful group on quizlet.

Japanese Learning Group

it was one of the very first groups on quizlet, and has almost 500 members, and 370+ sets of kanji and kana flashcards with NO ROMAJI (one of the few rules when i made the group).

http://quizlet.com/group/63/

started that right before i started on the SRS bandwagon.  So i barely use it, but i've maintained ownership of the group.

please feel free to join.
