RTK API?

It would be really good if there was an API for the RTK data on here, so people could play with their kanji data outside of the RTK site. My idea was using the MOO API to make minicards as physical flashcards for the 100 most frequently failed kanji, with the character as an image on the front of the card and the meaning on the back.

What do people think? Does this sound interesting? And what would you want to build?

This will not happen as RTK has a special agreement with Heisig to use his keywords here. I doubt it is allowed to use his keywords on other places smile

Aaaah okay. Well, I'm sorry to hear that of course - APIs do tend to rely on data being open... wink

Hi Sibyl,

jokoto is partly correct in that you should contact the author of RtK if you need to use some of his data in some way.

There is no API as such here as that would be overkill for such a small site (imho, a true API involves lots of security issues/complexity). On the other hand there is a still functional export page. You can sort this data and cross-link that with the KANJIDIC data or simply the RtK list from Ziggr (Google these up or search forum I have posted the links many times).

If you're going to print the cards for yourself you don't need to write to Heisig. If you're going to make a public app where users would feed in their own flashcard data (could come from other SRS's as well), then you would definitely need to ask Mr.Heisig for use of the keywords.
