Attempting RTK Speedrun
I have read in these forums about people that take 9 months or so to complete RTK while some others complete it in only 21 days o.O
I tend to work quite well with this type of system so I figured I would give it a try, and see how quickly I could hit the milestones.
I also keep my motivation up and learn better when I create pressure on myself rather than taking my time and learning only a few a day.
I am using handmade flashcards so far in addition to this site only while kanji are in the 1 or 2 stacks and then graduating my paper flashcards to take full advantage of the SRS system, but with the sheer number of kanji per day, I find it necessary to review a little more at first to ge more stories in right away.
I may not get done in 21 days, or 2 months, I cannot spend 8 hours a day studying, or even 5, but we will see how I do
Any other tips or suggestions are of course welcome!
Wish me luck!

Good luck getting an hour in a day and your wife not divorcing you! Paint kanji on people's houses.
Sometimes it can be hard to get time in, but if the girls are in bed, I have no paperwork, and she is watching TV, it's fair game
Just as a quick note, I have ran through all of section 1 so far, the easiest section i would think since the stories are all laid out for you, just absorb and move on.
276 Kanji into at least stack 1, with about an 85-90% review rate so far for getting into stack 2.

My advice is to not pile them on in the beginning. This is what I did and it came back to bite me in the butt in reviews. I did the first 500 or so in about a week and a half and then it was a nightmare to try to keep going after that as the reviews started piling up. If you want to start knocking them out in big numbers I say wait until you get close to the end and have gotten "use" to the whole process.
30 a day should be extremely easy if you just stay consistent with it. I only take about 1 minute per new Kanji. Look at it, visualize the story, write it, look at it again while saying the story to myself, done. Reviewing takes even less time, probably 10-30 seconds per Kanji. If I don't know it right away I don't spend 5 minutes trying to think of it. I fail it and move on. 30 a day should take no more than 2hrs of your time including reviews IMO and you'll be done in approximately 2 months.

Dustin,
I am kinda attempting something similar. I figured two and a half months would be fine cause 3 weeks in and I am at 780 Kanji. Some of the words are kinda odd to me since I don't generally use words like "doth" alot.
But use caution, getting thru from 1 to 2045 is only half the goal. I think the second half should be easier because most of the "easier" kanji, i haven't seen yet.
That said Good luck with your journey.
Thanks, I have to admit I haven't been able to add as many cards lately as I WANT but I am in the middle of moving on top of everything, but I am at 577 cards right now after 2 weeks
Yes, some of the words I really hate, admonish, rebuke etc. not exactly everyday vocab for me
Good luck to you too!
