View report reason?

Would it be possible to allow users to, when reporting a story, optionally attach a short note or comment (eg "story overlaps with frame X", "used as primitive later"), basically whatever reasons they had in mind when they reported the story, and then let other users view these reasons? I've seen some stories that I thought were good reported, but I can't decide if I should heed the reports, and for what reasons.

I stopped reporting stories and have begun sending emails directly to the person  explaining where an error was made.  Maybe each was used instead of every or something minor like a wrong historical date.  Once a story is reported, if it is corrected, chances are you are not going to return later and un-report it.

The majority of reports I have seen are extremely nit picky stuff.  A reader disagrees with a controversial topic or an alternate keyword is used.  I have used a tree drops, instead of wheat 禾 in many of my stories and most have reports on them.

If someone reports one of your stories because they noticed a mistake, how do you know so you can attend to it? And if you fix it, how do you clear the report?

Also a lot of people report things because of sexual, offensive, etc. content (even though Heisig himself suggests those kinds of stories in his book).

Basically I tend to ignore the report counts. I don't remember any case when it helped me.

Under "all my stories", reports is on the list of "sort by" on the far right.  Once it is reported it is there forever. I have 44 stories and counting reported :-)

I change stories if one is reported and I feel something is over offensive.  I often let emotion get the better of me creating stories dealing with religeon, politics or if was just chatting with a girlfriend and haven't calmed down yet.  I am also including kana from book two now and occasionally make typo errors that get pointed out.  I do agree that creating offensive stories is in line with the spirit of the book.  They should be clever if shared though.

My most reported story is the sign of the snake one.  Yes, I know my 'story' has nothing to do with the sign of the snake.  Yes, I'm comfortable with that.  No, I don't think anyone needs a story to remember the sign of the snake.

OK thanks. I had a look. Now I can't figure out for the life of me why most of those are reported.

People reported "your" stories. They're great. I rode off at least 50 of them and I didn't see a thing wrong. I made sure to star them too. big_smile Some people....

Wait how many report did you say you have...

>_>

I just need to... check something really... quick...

Yea Kazelee.  I have sometimes wondered if someone meant to give a star and clicked ! instead.

I remember doing that once. I was careful after I saw what happened. So whoever it was, I apologize...

It still puzzles me though why so many of my stories have one or two reports. Maybe some people don't realize what it's for??

If you click report by accident, just re-click and it will go away.  It's not that big a deal having the reports.  If you know there is nothing wrong with the story, that is all that matters.

But aren't you worried that the reason for the report will come back later to haunt you? Say early one you make a story with elements that gets used as a primitive later...

That happens anyways if you get into RTK3: 2180邑 city walls.  Look at your story and make sure that there are no mistakes.  If everything is OK, then don't worry about it.  Most of the stories with reports, other than the one's where the reporter was offended in some way, seem to have no rhyme or reason to them.

Sounds like we shouldn't have a reporting system then, if it doesn't mean much. What was the point of it anyway?

It wards off those who would dare type "the words of which we do not speak."

Any deterrent is better than no deterrent.

I would prefer it was a direct link to the user's email so feedback could be given.
