So, any strategies for putting this sort of grammar into an SRS and/or just studying it in general?
In the appendixes to "A Dictionary of Intermediate Grammar" there are some really, really, really useful bits that I'd like to put into my SRS and start studying immediately, but I'm not sure how to do it really.
Let's take the entry on ~合う for instance:
In the book, there is the definition (vi/vt [to do st mutually] do st together, do st with each other) and then 5 example sentences following (I'll only put two up here, for the sake of example...
1. 喜び合ってくれる人、悲しみ合ってくれる人が本当の友達だ。
(A person who will rejoice with you and grieve with you is a true friend.)
2. 二人は小さなことで言い合っていた。
(The two were arguing with each other over a trifle.)
So, in the appendix alone, for this compound verb ending, we have 5 example sentences, the grammatical explanation, and translations for all of it. The problem comes when putting it into (Anki, for instance) one's SRS.
Should I put the sentences in and drill both production and recognition, or just one or the other? Is there an even better way to make "Grammar" cards for the SRS that aren't overly-complicated (i.e. simple answers that would make gauging your progress easy)? I'm sort of at a loss. The most important part of this grammar is the fact that you can build compound verbs from this (as a building block) and thus drilling myself only on examples seems too limited.
It gets even worse when we get to the prefixes and suffixes.
Take 可 -ible, -able: 可燃物 (flammable stuff), 可溶性 (solubility)
What I need to do is learn this as a concept. I mean, I know the kanji thanks to RtK, but I need to get my head to remember that I can add that kanji onto other compounds I know and form new, meaningful vocabulary.
Any hints for making a grammar deck? Will memorizing sentences and/or vocabulary just pick up this slack later? What should I do? I mean, I feel like if an appendix can make a list of it, there must be some way to SRS it.
