I would like access to this document.  If there are still any chapters left, I don't mind helping complete it.  I can provide photo proof that I own the book.  I clicked the 'request access' link, but it just went to a white page, so I don't know if it went through.

Thanks.

Edit:  Thanks for the access!

It didn't go through, so try it again and see if it works. If not, just click the email link under my name here.

I was given a copy of the sequel to this book ("More Making..."). Unfortunately I really don't like it, so if anyone in the UK would like it send me your address and I'll drop it in the post.

So this is like what happened with KO, a bunch of you type up the sentences and put it into downloadable form?

Great, I've sent my request. What's required for proof?

Just go to the spreadsheet and click the link to request access. I'll then contact you.

Does anyone know why the google doc suddenly has no gender or notes columns?  I have an offline backup, it could be something to do with the new google interface, but if not I could paste back the extra info.  I was also thinking about typing up the extra bits that didn't seem to be finished from chapter 11 and the last one.

It looks like someone deleted those columns 2 weeks ago. The revision history is sort of hidden now, you have to go under the file menu to get to it. I don't simply revert to the old one because there have been edits since then, and I don't have time to go through it all and see what has changed.

Okay, well I'm going to finish the two incomplete chapters, 11 and 14.

Can we revert that change?  Anyone who doesn't want those columns can just ignore them.  The rest of us would like to keep them.

Yea it can be reverted, but as I just said, I dunno what all edits have been made since the time that change was made. If it is reverted, then any other changes since then, good or bad, would be removed as well. So basically someone should maybe go through and see exactly what has changed since then, to avoid losing any potentially useful change.

or, as phauna already said, just import them back in...

I think we should just revert it to the last point.  Hopefully little useful change will be lost, I don't think anyone can be bothered to check it, and the longer we leave it, the more good changes may be lost.  I wanted to change something today, but then thought I should wait for the revert.  More people will come along and check it in due course, I think.

it's the tomhogers edit from 4 weeks ago that deleted the page, notes, gender and check columns.  since then there's been changes by whatitellyouthreetimesistrue and JudderLeaf

to check for changes you need to export the current version, revert, export, and compare the exported fies with an external visual difference tool.  for each chapter.  that can be done just as well after the revert anyway, or maybe those 2 who've made changes remember what they changed or can at least say which chapters need to be checked,  so yeah, might as well revert now

I mean, I'm whatitellyouthreetimesistrue, and I don't think I changed more than one or two things.  And Judderleaf was the one who seemed to delete it all, so...

Edit: If you are new to this thread THIS IS NOT THE SPREADSHEET YOU ARE LOOKING FOR! Don't bother asking for access unless you already have access to the original.

no it was tomhogers wasn't it? -- the tomhogers edit is the first one with those columns missing...  anyway, I made a copy of the latest version, available at https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key … &hl=en and reverted the main spreadsheed to the last good version

if Judderleaf knows which chapters he changed, or if someone else cares,  just export from the copy and from the main spreadsheet and compare to find the lost changes

Great, thanks, I'll add some of the unfinished two chapters that I've decided to do.

Hey Guys,
Swear to God I didn't change anything.

I only had a quick gander at the layout of each chapter to see if they were all consistent (which they're not), and just before closing the page I downloaded a copy in Excel to work on later off-line. I never make any changes directly on the (open) page. Edit- I Always make a copy of how the spreadsheet is before changing, then upload the whole changed chapter/book. -edit.

I have just looked at the excel copy I have and it is a lot different from the backup copy that cangy has posted. Anybody want to re-post the (original) copy I have? Just tell me how you want it sending, e-mail etc.

Cheers,

Tom

Didn't google change the spreadsheet app around that time?  Perhaps it just got scrambled in the changeover.  I just added a big chunk the other day, but I can upload that again, so I'm not fussed either way.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread. I thought this book was quite useful. Did anyone ever mine the sentences from the "More Making out in Japanese" book?

You know, there are a lot of phrases with ? at the end of them. Which if I remember correctly is a very effeminate way to speak. Or is this a grammar thing?

何言ってんの, for example.

Steriotypical male pervert: 「なぁ...なぁ... 今どんなパンツはいてんの?」

Just wanted to make a couple more comments, having looked through the second book. The second book seems to be much more oriented towards dating and relationships than the first book.

Some of the reviews on Amazon have implied that the second book has language which is very dated or creepy. Well, yes if you used some of that language with someone you didn't know well it would be considered very creepy. On the other hand a reasonable proportion of the phrases seem to be fairly standard japanese, so there could be some useful material.

Amazon reviews of the first book also suggest that the content is very dated and consist mostly of naughty phrases. I think this criticism is rather inaccurate. I've gone through the book and most of the phrases seem to be typical japanese expressions you hear a lot. Also only a couple of chapters deal relationships. The majority of the content is quite useful I thought, especially for people still at the beginner level.
