When learning a new keyword, I've found it helps to do a Google image search for the word. This especially helps with words you know but aren't *exactly* sure what to visualize. "Pavilion" is an example; a Google image search comes up with a lot of different types of buildings, forcing you to pick one or make up an original one. It's also good for some of Heisig's really esoteric choices, like "decameron". Sometimes a picture you find will fit in with the kanji you're memorizing and help build the story.
Anyway, hope that helps.
