Is there any way to review cards without advancing them? Sometimes I'm quite bored at work, and could use that time for additional reviewing.

I don't want this extra activities to affect my normal review schedule, however. Or rather ? if I miss, I want the card to go back to the fail deck, but if I get it right, I don't want it to move to the next box. Is there any way to do this?

How about just studying new kanji at work?
If you review your cards ahead of the scheduled time, then it doesn't help you as much.

If you've got the time, I would just study new cards instead of worrying about studying old cards before they're due.  The SRS system is designed to optimize your ability to memorize and retain huge amounts of information in the shortest amount of time possible, by only bringing cards up for review when you're close to forgetting them.  Extra reviewing can be counterproductive to this.

You can always try KanjiGym, its a free program you can download to test RTK kanji.

I would not review more than this site sugests, as it might ruin the process of transfering the memories to long term memory. A part of remembering is forgetting.

I know mnemosyne is prepared to do this, but he only allows it after you have done all your cards.
