Seems like a big challenge. If you've managed it, how long did it take you? I just finished rtk1 and only about 950 kanji are in stacks 5+ for me. I think in another 5 months time or so... there's a chance I might get them all over there. I have some doubts that it's even possible though, given that some of the kanji and keywords are just tricky and can get mixed up easily.

You guys who have been finished for a while now, do you ever stop your RTK reviews? I would imagine at some point in your studies it would cease to be that important, especially with the English keywords. But at the same time, seeing cards in the first couple of stacks makes me really want to keep going all the way.

I doubt that would be possible. At least, that would require a 100% recall rate, every day for some time. And even after that, it would be only temporary, until you do one single error.
So aiming for that is a little high, in my opinion, but... if you like challenges, you can try! smile

I've been hovering at around 1900 in the last stack for a long time now.  This seems to be a more or less steady-state level with me getting about 80% on review.

I finished RTK1 about 6 months ago and I also am hovering in the 1900 (thought I did take a "break" for about a month when I was using anki instead).  I peaked at 1983 but haven't got up that high again since.  My goal is 2000 but I may start doing Japanese keywords before I get there.

EDIT: This thread has some more posters.

Out of curiosity, about 6 months after finishing what are your daily review levels like. I finished 2 months ago and still have 70-100 a day. Its quite annoying now as I want to spend the time on other studying now.

Usually about 35 or so a day but anywhere from 20-50.  When I add failed kanji back in I add no more than 10 a day so that it won't be a lot in future reviews.
What annoys me the most is when I miss a kanji when I write down a kanji that has the same/similar meaning.  (One reason I am starting to use Japanese keywords).

I've recently switched to anki for a few reasons, but just before that I was (7 months after finishing) doing about 10-30 kanji a day. I emptied all the expired and failed cards every day. For a couple of days I had reached 2012 in stack 5, but it dropped down again for a while.

My approach here is to write out all of the possibilities. If the correct answer is one of them and they are indeed genuinely "close enough" (the fat/obese/plump trio is an example of three that I consider "close enough"), I spend a few seconds trying to reinforce the connection between the single correct answer and the character and then just mark it correct.

Most of the kanji I know (around 1500) are in stack 5. Most of the rest (550) are in the red stack. It's only if I  get one wrong occasionally or I try to learn one of the 550 that I get a few in the stacks in between.

I've been taking the 90% in stack 5 or higher is a good goal. Seeing that I'm adding in RTK3 kanji now, I guess that means I'm looking for 2700 in stack 5. Only 2000 there so far, so it's a long ways away.
