Anyone know any? The equivalent of isohunt but in japanese is what I am looking for, although looking for japanese things, so I don't need a japanese search engine that indexes english trackers.

Please don't post direct links to torrent sites with illegal downloads. You could name the site and I'm sure people can find it, you can also use the forum's contact form.

Talking of torrents, I would also be interested in Japanese equivalents of legal torrent sites, eg: Ten sites for free and legal torrents. There may be decent Japanese movies in the public domain, games in the public domain, etc.

Japanese don't seem to use torrent sites often, because copyright laws are quite strict in Japan. People who create P2P applications have even been arrested! They mainly use specialized P2P applications that offer anonymity. The main one was called Winny, but the security was compromised and the author ended up getting arrested. After that a new one came along called Share. Again, security in that application was compromised, so yet another application has now come out called Perfect Dark.
A lot of people still use winny and share though.

Yeah but no one arrests anyone for using torrents in Japan because no one uses it.

reviving this thread. it's conclusion is: there's not much in the p2p realm in japan/japanese media. is this still the case?

Correct. Although I've heard rumors that you'll find links to ドラマ,  raw アニメ, and variety show streams by searching past threads on this forum. Not that I would ever recommend such a thing, personally.

hmmm. well, there's a book-off near me so i can just hit up their dvd supply. 映画 on english torrent sites rarely have 日本語字幕 but the japanese releases of the movies often have japanese subs.

Yeah, true. I'm sometimes frustrated by the lack of 日本語字幕 for some of the new アニメ I like. OTOH, it forces me to gut it out and understand whatever I can. And for アニメ, I can fall back on the corresponding 漫画.

Nyaatorrents. The site is in English, but there are "raw" Japanese categories for most sections. Searching in Japanese also works well. There's also D-Addicts, which I avoided for a long time, since I'm not into dorama, but they have a decent collection of tv shows as well.

If you search for "AvistaZ" you might find a torrent tracker dedicated to Asian movies (Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, India, ...). If the movie/drama has been released, it's on there. They used to be invite only, but I'm not sure if they still are. If that's the case, I've got 12 invites available.

d-addicts has a tonne of stuff....

but if you don't like torrents

search for jp-ddl in google.

it basically has everything on d-addicts but backed up on cyberlocker type links.

It's invite only. Could I have an invite? I'll invite any other Koohii members who want an account if I have invites to give after I sign up. [email edited out]

Perfect Dark is my main solution for raws. Nyaa is nice, except it's not really focused on raws (I couldn't find Death Note a few months back, and that's a huge show in terms of popularity, plus not too old either). PD has some overhead in setting up, you need to set aside 4-5 hours to do it, and is quite slow - gotta start tasks at least a week in advance - but has pretty much everything you'll ever want or need in terms of content (anime/LN/etc at least, no clue about drama).

Could I have an invite as well please? Of course I'll be happy to help others when I become a member smile

karagarga has an excellent collection of japanese films, probably the best on internet, lots of obscure stuff. cinemageddon is also good for weird/cult flicks.

but i too would  like to know a japanese equivalent of these torrent sites. perfect dark seems really slow and a bit of a pain...

Still have 9 left.

Edit: 7 left.

Thanks! I'm in. It says I have no invites though. Do you get invites by seeding?

I think karagarga is either down, or blocked in the US...Is it a torrent site?

Yes. Seeding for 1 hour gives you 1 point, and after you have 500 points, you can replace the points for an invitation.

Thank you very much for the invite! I had no idea you'd get points by seeding. Thanks for pointing out smile.

yeah, it's a torrent site. it's not down, i just checked. but you do need an invite to get in. unfortunately, i don't have any at the moment.
i have a couple for cinemageddon, but they don't have mainstream stuff like avistaz. strictly cult/thrash movies.

Thanks for replying! It looks like it's up now, though it's too bad that it's invite only.
Cinemageddon looks like it's not really my cup of tea, but maybe someone else would find it helpful.^^

BTW, does anyone know a torrent or streaming site which is focused on documentaries, and/or non-drama/anime Japanese TV shows?
