hi guys, i was unsure where i should put this post so i will put it here... i was reading on www.alljapaneseallthetime.com/blog about watching japanese tv and movies and trying to pick out words and stuff to help you learn... anyways through a lot of searching around on the internet i found only 1 website with a 24-hour streaming online broadcast and it was here:

http://www.iiv.ne.jp/

i was wanting to know if anybody knew of any other TV station websites with live broadcasts that they could share (particularly ones with daily conversations like doramas)....... Khatzumoto recommends listening to japanese while you sleep at night too to help keep your brain always thinking about japanese so i left that website on all last night and i was definately thinking about japanese and what people were saying when i fell asleep and woke up the next day... i think i'll keep doing it every night because i do feel like it is benefiting me... you guys might want to try it out yourselves ^_^

Well, if you can stomach it, QVC is actually pretty good.  They say the same thing over and over and over and over...
It's certainly a different register of Japanese than you usually hear.  But it's good practice anyway.

Woah. Thanks for the lead on TVU player. Besides the ads, it's awesome. Quality is much better than keyhole.

Another option might be to set up a slingbox exchange with someone living in Japan.  I have one connected to a VCR here in Japan for my best friends wife back in the states.  She records shows and watches what she wants from any broadcast channel all the time.

That's a good idea. Are there web sites where people can set up Slingbox exchanges? I think it would be cool to set up one with a TiVo for ourselves so if we go to Japan, we could watch some of our shows we'd miss. smile

Thanks for the pointer to TVUPlayer. Going to try that tonight. KHTV is nice, but the quality is very poor.

Does anyone have version 2.2.0 or 2.3.3 beta 2 of TVU player?
I can't get the new one to load any channels in linux, and people have had success with those two versions.

I installed this (site says it's 2.2.0): http://www.recordstreaming.com/download/tvuplayer.exe (via: http://www.pprecorder.com/iptv-tvuplayer.htm), because I heard it worked best with recording, but I couldn't get Japanese channels working. It also doesn't have ads.

It's actually 2.3.2.34 sad
I can't get it working either...

I found an older version of tvuplayer that works under wine (for linux). You still have to run the video through vlc or something, but it works.

PM me if you want the older exe.

I'm currently using tvuplayer under vmware-virtualized windows. It works fine!
