I loved My Boss, My Hero! Definitely one of my faves. I hope to start watching dorama again in July once I get this whole heisig thing out of the way, heh. Tokyo Friends is still my all time fave, but I have that Otsuka Ai fetish. XD

Oh yeah, I'm going to have to watch that for the title alone already!

You remembered 74 of 111 kanji. 67% Remembered.
Better images are paying off.

I liked my boss my hero too.
Together with Densha Otoko, they might be my favorites.

Tokyo friends crossed my path twice but its name did'nt called me attention so I have not yet seen it. So I'll see it after I finish yamada tarou monogatari.

Just finished マイ ボス マイ ヒーロー!/My Boss My Hero

Wow, that was so awesome.  Highly recommended!

I'm not sure what to move onto next..

I saw Tokyo Friends in the dorama list, but I couldn't help but imagine a Japanese take on the American sitcom 'Friends'..    And boy, do I hate 'Friends'.   'Tokyo Seinfeld' would be sweet, though.

So far I've watched 'At Home Dad', 'Shopping Hero', and 'My Boss My Hero'.   Can anyone recommend something similar that's worth my time?  I tend to like these comedy doramas.

^-^

edit:  mentat_kgs, Densha Otoko?  Train Man?  Heh, sounds good to me.  I'll check it out.

About the music videos, I love karaoke anime openings!

Today review report: I dont know exacly. It was more than 130 kanji to review and I got about 50%.

Busy day. As for today I'm a taekwondo yellow belt. Yup, not white belt anymore. Hurray!

Yeah Tokyo Friends is pretty much about a group of girls and their trials and tribulations in Tokyo. But, the main girl is Otsuka Ai and she joins a band and then there's lots of Otsuka Ai being cute while singing, and my two favorite things in the world are Otsuka Ai being cute and her songs. So yeah, like I said, I'm biased. XD

Too many failed. But I already did my share for the weak, and some more big_smile
Today and tomorrow I'll be lazy and just review.

Been watching Ryoukiteki na Kanojo(猟奇的な彼女)...with no subs, even though I only get like 20-30% of whats going on it is still funny as hell. I recommend it!

@cerulean

We have similar taste.  Check out "Kekkon-dekinai-otoko" (same lead actor as "at home dad" but funnier imo), "Tiger and Dragon" (you prob. knew this one), I'm watching "Hero" right now which is a very interesting comedy involving prosecutors/lawyers, also "ii-hito" is really funny/unbelievable.

But today I was much more rigid in the review. If I did not remember it in the first 3-4 seconds, it goes to the failed pile.

mentat_kgs, how many kanji do you do per day?

It just passed midnight, and my review for tomorrow is 154 kanji! O_O I think that's a record for me.

Yes. Mentat_Kgs has had terrible review rates in the past and is pushing through. Him forcing down his own succes with Heisig by putting a large effort in it, and pushing on is a great motivation for some of us. I for myself have actually had a number of times where I was a bit sick and tired of doing kanji because of some low retention rates, I only needed to think 'What would Mentat do?' for one second to give myself enough motivation to continue tongue. Cheesy, but true big_smile.

It's a good thread. Hopefully it helps Mentat and it's nice to hear someone else's experiences, struggles, and triumphs.

But my failed pile is not clean yet. ughtz.

Hi ivo. You mean besides raising my post count and diminishing my desire to spam?
It keeps track of what I'm doing. I'm having a lot of trouble doing RTK and advice from the few people that read this thread is helping me a lot.

Yo roderik, tks for that. I'll work hard to answer your expectations.

Yo Shibo. Sadly this is being more struggles than anything else but I hope soon enought I'll be posting in the "congratulate me I finished RTK" thread. Maybe 2 months from now.

I was thinking about the paper cards and the reviews in the first day.
But I'm just too lazy for this kind of manual labor. So I decided to migrate my RTK stuff to mnemosyne. I already started today.

no problem with me, i was just wondering.
then some spam of myself.

i had a very big brake in the past for more then a year after i reached kanji 1336,
i asummed i had other weaknesses to fill first(so i did pimsleur tapes and completed them).
in retrospect i should have continued so i would have finished this book a year ago.
so i just started again from scratch in januari after a few months was almost back to where i started, it is suprising how much you still recall after a year of no action and how much connect again rather easy.
this was  3 months ago, in the last 3 months i did litte and again had 1200 expired cards.
im starting to see a patern here sad

so i was getting pissed off at myself and thinking that even while reading boosk is great practice perhaps its beter to just finish remebering the kanji once and for all.
so i started again a week ago.
i reviewed all those failed rather stringent and ended up with 700 failed card, many of the last cards i learned where among them.
in a week or so i espect to have caught up and worked away the failed and expired cards, the good thing is i kept adding a few cards every day and now i am at kanji 1345, so i finaly surpassed the point i quited so long ago.

now just hope to finish the book once and for all

I think the paper cards help me because it also forces me to write out my story once. Helps stuff stick in my brain.

Today was my second day on mnemosyne.
My reviews will be messed up for a week I guess. At least until the easy kanjis get marked as learned.
But I noticed a great improvement over RTK here. It is much easier to add new cards. Also  everything you have to do is say yes or no for cards. And when you see a new one, you make up an story (sometimes looking it up here).
I dint got along well with paper flashcards, and I'm convinced now mnemosyne does a better job than me to manage my first reviews of the cards.

Third day on mnemosyne. I added about ~30 new cards today.
I'm now convinced that mnemosyne is a great improvement as a SRS over RevTK.
But I'm miss other people's stories and the prety columns and graph.
