Here's a sentence I pruned from somewhere...

彼らは2~3年後に結婚して、現在は2人の娘がいます。

While it's easy to understand the meaning, I don't know how you'd read it aloud.

How would a native read 2~3?  The same way a native English speaker would read "2-3" as "two through three" or "two to three" etc.

Most people would say から if that was there, but some people would not read it and just say に、さんねん according to my Japanese friend.

I'm pretty sure most people would not say から when reading that sentence aloud.

Ah! If you don't mind, I'd love a mixi invite for that sort of group as well. Sometimes I run across things that just don't quiiiite jive, and with my background in English/Journalism/Editing, I'm sure I can help right back. I'll drop you an email through the contact form as well.

A related question that came up for me recently - how does this differ for situations like days, for example, where the number words aren't the same?

For example, is 1~2日 いちふつか or いちににち?

I've been wondering about this too!
Arg, like 一、二回... is that 一 read いち or something else?

Could I get a Mixi invite too, please?

Great question really, I would say いっかい、にかい. でも推測だけです。

And since this topic also seems to be about begging for mixi invites, I would say:
ミクシに誘ってお願いします。 email: yahoo.co.jp で tatemonozutto
