I think it would be great if we could do a "practice" review on cards that are in the first stack. It would work exactly the same as a normal review, but cards are not moved to other stacks, nor are they marked as missed.

This would be helpful for the initial learning of the kanji. I know there are some ways to do this, but it's a bit cumbersome, so having a feature like this built right into the site would be amazing.

Add cards, review, delete cards. Repeat until satisfied, then add them for good.

Thirded!

Although I doubt such a function would appear any time soon.
Fuaburisu had that behind the scenes project going on, right..

Spoiled little brat! In my time there was no delete button, hell, not even an add button. We used punch cards which we punched in with our nails!

Heheh wink

I do reckon the need for extra reviews. Again, please don't hesitate to bump this up when I'm done "refactoring" (I will update the news). I couldn't do that now as the code is a mess. Can you believe I had the code for drawing the Leitner graph twice with just a few lines changed? It's that bad. (programmers will know what I mean).

Would be nice! -- Practise until it is learned, then move the card into the SRS-system (By now that is one of the things I use my paper cards for).

I think this would be a good feature.  For me, the first time I learned a new character I found I needed to study it every day for 3-4 days in a row, regardless of whether I "remembered" it or not, before I coculd start using spaced repetition. Jumping into spaced repetition right away would lower my scores to about 30-40% (as opposed to 80~90% with the 3-4 day prep, a score which is still my average 6 months later).

I think an easier way to implement this is to have another category of score:

No -- got it wrong, need to restudy
Barely -- sort of got it right but not comfortable with it, do it again tomorrow
Yes -- got it right with a little effort, so do normal spaced repetition
Easy -- second nature, don't need to revise it for a while
