I'v search high and low and I just can't find how to write it or if I'm hearing it write, it sounds like じゃん or じゃじゃん

I hear it on TV when someone writes something down or is finished doing something, for example I saw it on a gameshow where the contestant had to write something on a board and everytime a girl wrote something after it she said じゃじゃん or something similar sounding.

I'd normally ask a Japanese person but I'm behind enemy lines as my Campus network has recently blocked skype.

Anyone know what it is and the meaning, thanks.

Oh, I've heard it to. I don't think you'll be able to translate it. It's pretty much like a "I'm finished" kind of noise. I think it's suppose to reference a bell, maybe?

It's the Japanese equivalent of "tadaa". It's onomatopoeia (I believe emulating announcing trumpets) and has no actual "meaning".

Anyone got the correct writing of it? Probably katakana I'm sure or a dictionary definition.

Thanks, seems EDICT lists it as "Crash, Bang" which would tie in with the onomatopoeia of it being the sound of trumpets or a fanfare.

I've only ever heard females say this.

I have heard males say it, but females seem to use 擬音語/擬態語 more frequently than men.

Ahh, right. A trumpet! Not a bell. Duh.
