If you forget the story but remember how to write it, is it wrong?

Would you consider it wrong and put it in the failed pile? Or would you say it's right because you remembered what mattered?

I'm wondering this because if I go the latter if I'll get screwed in the long run.

This can happen often in the first part of RtK, where the kanji are not too complex visually. Also when dealing with very frequent characters. I wouldn't worry about it.

If you are being halfway into the book however, I'd recommend to always try and recall at least an idea of what the story was about. Doing this recall makes the link between the kanji and its primitives. It can be counter productive in the long run, if you rely too much on visual memory.

I see, thanks. It's the kanji I know very well and go maybe a month before reviewing and I have no problem recalling it and the primitives but if the story isn't obvious sometimes I can't piece it together
