Once again, Woelpad, your efforts are greatly appreciated.

I've got to say I don't really like the new failed kanji format. When I want to study failed kanji I want to study more than one, so it makes sense for the 'Learned' button to take me to another kanji so I can continue studying.

It might only be 3 clicks instead of 1 but when you're studying 50 or more kanji that makes a big difference. With this new system I can only really study up to 20 kanji before having to stop due to time constraints.

I'm not that bothered about having the kanji list on the side, in fact hiding it probably helps you study better, as you don't have clues to what the kanji could be. Could Fabrice also make it so that the order of kanji that is presented to you when you're studying is random? That way you wouldn't be able to get clues about what primitive the kanji is made of.

Well, until the "learned" button takes you automatically to the next Kanji to learn (like it did before and which I prefer), here's what I've been doing: I write out the Kanji from the missed list (all of them, as now it's only like 8 to 12), I then bring up a window for each kanji so I can quickly go to each to see if I learned them (ie, did I keep it in short term memory).

I'll be honest, I hope Fabrice tweaks the effect of "No" answers. I really would like it to be a "back one stack" instead of a "go to stack 1". Obviously, something was sticking for the Kanji to get to stack 7 or 8, no need to send it back to the end of the line for a misplaced drop or reversed primitives or mistake on a synonym keyword.

The learned button taking you to another kanji is a bad idea in my opinion. I think it would be much better for it to take you back to the list of failed kanji keywords. I can't understand the logic for the way it is right now though. Maybe its an oversight?

Me again. I wondered if people would be OK with this solution then? (if it's possible and Fabrice wants it, of course)

*Quick: Learned button takes you to the next kanji.
*Quiz: Kanji hidden until hovered over. (hidden numbers would also be good)
*Query: A way to select sorting method for that session (eg. random).

Note: the current sorting requires one more click for each kanji. Is it possible for a  sort method selected remain until another is selected? I also want efficient, but avoiding clues as well is helpful, I think.

I realized that after clicking learned the kanji appears to be marked as passed eventhough it was not yet tested

If you mean that it goes to a green stack, it's normal. Kanjis on the blue stack can sit there for weeks without reviewing, and kanjis on the first stack are scheduled for reviews after two days, which is what you are supposed to do with the re-learned kanji.
If you meant that the statistics for a "learned" kanji increase erroneusly before actually reviewing, that's a bug.

One more in favor of wanting the old clicking learned takes you to the next card approach, I've got stack of 170 failed cards now because i just can't be bothered with the new method it makes studying take twice as long and no more effective.

Thanks for the feedback. I rushed last update a little bit, in my eagerness to "clear it off" the top of my head and focus on something else that was on my mind the next day.

These are the problems I'm aware of in no particular order :

- "All My Stories" doesn't display count like "My Public Stories", etc.
- Stories in stories lists should be clickable without Javascript so you can "middle-mouse-button-click" or "shift-click" them.
- Clicking "Learned" takes you back to the introductory Study page. This one just slipped past. I can make it go back to the "Failed Kanji" full list, or make it work in RtK order through failed kanji as before (see next).
- Removed "Failed Kanji" quick list. This list showed the first 10 kanji in RtK order, from the failed stack. When I first put it online, it seemed everybody had a different opinion as to how it should work. This is a peculiar thing in development where you don't know if some things are actually helpful until there is a problem with them wink  I'm happy I removed it temporarily, in retrospect. I will put it back, as it was before since that seems to address the most common case where learners progress through RtK and don't pile up too many failed kanji. In other cases, loading stories in a new tab, from the failed kanji list, is an efficient way to clear up kanji in desired order.
- Paging problem in "My Stories" : will be fixed
- Sorting Starred / Reported stories : the "Starred" and "Reported" options will list stories in descending order (most starred / most reported first). I'm not in favor of adding more sorting options unless it has a real benefit.

The great Buster Keaton is in town today (with live piano!) so the fixes probably won't make it this w-e as I hoped, but should be up pretty soon.

That's some quick work, there, ファブリス. Awesome.

I know I was the one that suggested sorting by stars and reports, but I was confused for a moment the first time I clicked on sort by reports. The first thing I saw were starred stories, and it took me a moment to realize it was, indeed, working, since none of my stories have been reported.

A little note saying there are no reported or starred stories would be friendly.

(It might also make sense to weight reports and stars in the opposite direction, e.g. if two stories have the same number of reports, but one also has a star, sort the one with no star before it.)

Thumbs up for the failed kanji box smile

You could perhaps add a "test all" link above the complete list that would lead to:

Code:
