So there is another let's speak japanese thread, but it has sort of quieted down, so maybe a game will get people using japanese.

On a different forum that me and yorkii post on, there is a shiritori thread, but I think we are the only two that post in it.  So I'll start a thread here too that will hopefully be more lively.

How to Play:

I'm sure most of you know shiritori, but for those that don't...it is a word chain game.  You use the last character the preceding word as the first letter in the next word.  And since no words start with ん, you can't end a word with ん or you'll have broken the chain.

example:
猫→恋人→途中→運転手→週末
ねこ→こいびと→とちゅう→うんてんしゅ→しゅうまつ

And one more rule  After you choose a new word to continue the chain, you have to use it in a sentence.

you can't use verbs either. nouns only.

追突→氷柱 (つらら)

暖かくなるにつれて、氷柱が溶けた。

edit: got rid of the 出しました。 Before I was thinking "As it got warmer, the icicles started to melt"  And I changed 暑く to 温かく since that sounds more like warm weather  that might come after ice ^_^

not sure about your sentence there John. Using ~につれて you need something like a gradual change, 出す implies a sudden change.

maybe 溶けて短くなる

氷柱→楽天 (らくてん)

英語では楽天的に考える人は、水で半分に満ちているグラスを見ると「The glass is half full」と言う。

楽天家→覚悟

日本語が上手になりたいなら、熱心に勉強する覚悟しなければならない。

edit...now it is I that has been pwned!! I was busy trying to learn how to use 覚悟 since I've seen it in my anki deck a million times and never used it.  And Yorkii beat me to the punch.
