I spend much too much time on game websites, forums, blogs and comedy sites, so I want to find Japanese versions of these kinds of websites. Is there something like a Japanese Kotaku? IGN? Cracked? Something like Koohii, even?

Kotaku is from the USA originally but there is a Japanese version.. as well as a Japanese LifeHacker. All the sites in that network. Sometimes the translations on the originally English articles are a little odd but it's not a huge deal since the translators are Japanese.

I've found most Japanese forums to be... lacking. Maybe because I'm not a big fan of the oldschool BBS version that Japan so loves.

You could probably spend a minute or twelve on this site if you're into games: http://www.4gamer.net/

If you're into any idols or actors or etc. there's a decent chance that they have a blog or a twitter out there that you can follow for that sort of thing as well. For some reason that's a big thing in Japan among the (rich? and?) famous.

It's not cracked.com, but there's a Japanese site that's a lot like The Onion: http://kyoko-np.net/

Matome blogs are ok.

I would like to be part of an Japanese (or English), loosely anime/manga/LN/VN/game-based community but I don't feel I can absorb the associated memes and protocol of internet message boards as well as I could back when I was a completely idle teenager. I suppose I can blend into 2chan or 2ch if I want to but I kind of would prefer a board is less topic restricted and has a more mature atmosphere, for which I don't think there is anything in Japanese in this area. Even on the English web I'm lost for a place to be. 4chan (for example) is too big and fragmented, so if you want to discuss something off topic you have to go to another board full of people who may as well be from another universe...

You'd be surprised how well some of them internet things stick with a little repetition.

I'm not into VNs n' such but I am a big game fan and I would suggest this broadcast:
http://live.fc2.com/20034124/

It's like a forum. Only more fast-paced and includes listening and video. Wee!
He's around most days and .. yeah. Basically a bunch of chat about the game he's playing and related gamely activities. Probably 99.9% of the other listeners are gamers and his voice is easy to listen to. げんじろう's a good guy. I'd recommend it for all sorts of reasons!

There are a number of other game broadcasters but he's the most regular these days. If you ever see a guy on that site named ピコ he's a hilarious game broadcaster. I haven't seen him in a minute, though. Also a guy named medaka plays a shitton of Minecraft and has an Osakan accent. If you're into that.

..... I may or may not be a regular denizen of the FC2 corner of the interwebs.
(And I contribute a large part of my ability to understand casual and broken-up Japanese to this website.)
