Does anyone know where I can get a stream for NHK Radio 1 or 2?

I can't get the streams on their site to load (region blocking???) sad Nor can I find them on other sites/apps such as TuneIn.

I believe NHK Radio 1 is like BBC Radio 4 (talk and news). Is there any other major station like this that I can stream on TuneIn or other resources. I could just jump through every station one by one, but want to avoid non-standard dialects.

If you have any recommended stations I'll be happy to hear them big_smile

When I try to stream from the NHK Net Radio site here in San Francisco, I get an HTTP 401 Unauthorized without any extra headers/info. Yeah, I think it's region-blocking. I'll set up a Japanese proxy server later and see what happens.

Does this site work for you? It's not their live radio, just their regular broadcasts (I think it's the ones you can get from their podcast).

Aye those work thanks. I'll probably have to live with those on my phone for now smile

100% region blocked, I ended up using this nice free VPN to get through at home:

I usually listen to radiko.jp through a proxy. Note that you'll get different stations depending on where your proxy is (Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka, etc).

Bah, yeah, everything I tried is region-blocked, too. I even took one more stab at it today and tried some apps from the Japanese iTunes store, like ドコデモFM. Also region-blocked.

I honestly have more than enough podcast content these days, and it's easy as hell to get more. Has anyone tried something like Downcast (http://www.downcastapp.com/) as a way of tying a bunch of podcasts together into a fake radio stream?

On the plus side, VPNGate works like a champ.
