iPod/Phone Note App?

Hi All,

I was just curious if anyone happened to know or use a particularly nice note-organizing app. I'm mostly interested in writing down small phrases or sets of questions for different categories of social context and having them on the fly. I can put this into the standard "notes" iOS app, but I was hoping to find something that allowed a little more organization.

Evernote seems nice but I'm not willing to be $4.99 a month just to have some organized text notes. I'd prefer something free -- that is to say, I'm willing to settle for a minimal, simple app with a modest set of features. Or at least a modest one-time fee would be OK.

Well, depend what you mean by "more organization".

There is a full fledged Wiki app where you can even edit the CSS in the page, called TrunkNotes.

There is a rather neat app called ThinkBook that let's you organize something like checklists, and you can use gestures to move the items around.

There is this huge iOS Text Editor roundup. I suppose it doens't hurt to try the free ones first, or maybe look if there is an essential feature you need like search or online sync.

Google Drive is not bad at all. It's very flexible to be able to access those files on your desktop PC as well. It doesn't have the same formatting options as online though. I use it for simple spreadsheets, but not for text because its support for headings is very basic atm.

PlainText is very simple,  it syncs your text files on a DropBox folder. You can easily add new text files and sub folders in the left column.

Evernote is free.  You only have to pay for it if you want text searching in PDFs, large uploads or the other premium features.  I've used it for free for years without any issues at all.
