I'd like to get my American Windows 7 Pro and Widows 8 Pro computers able to read pdf aloud in Adobe Reader.  It seems I'm closer to doing so on the W8 computer, so we can focus on that.

It's been a few weeks since I've tried to get this going, so I may not remember everything I've tried.  I know on W8, I can select the "Haruka" narrator.  I probably installed some jp language pack.

It can read English pdfs aloud, but not Japanese. I can copy Japanese text and paste it OK into Word for example.

No changes, but I just want to bump this and clarify the "Haruka" voice can read English materials with all the pronunciation errors a native Japanese speaker usually would!  Amusing, but not really useful.

So Japanese can be read aloud successfully in Word 2013.  In Acrobat XI, Haruka reads the underlying unicode source when trying to read Japanese.  Seems like I'm so close.
