When writing the road radical in a kanji, is it OK to write it simplified (computer font) instead of hand written or will I get incorrect answer for that on JLPT and such? Example of handwritten: http://japanese.about.com/library/blkod343.htm
There is no written component on the JLPT. It's pure multiple choice.
I tend to write the road primitive something like ` + 3 + a downward sloping _. I don't know if that's technically correct but it's close enough. My english handwriting is probably worse than my japanese. In the age of computers, it doesn't really matter.
On the other hand, it would look pretty weird if you wrote it the way that computer font looks. If you're going to the trouble of asking, why not learn to write it in a normal handwritten fashion?

Makes more sense to write it in handwritten style when writing by hand.
The reason why I wondered before was because I had learned to write it in computer font but it seems like no one does that. Won't take long to fix though and I really appreciate the links you posted tokyostyle!
There are some handwriting type fonts too. I think it can help to see the kanji in that form as you're learning to write them. A few different ones have been posted in older threads. (If you have no luck searching, I might be able to locate them.)
