Perhaps some of you that use Firefox have noticed that version 19 has a built-in PDF viewer, which is awesome because you can use Rikaichan/Rikaisama inside PDF files now!

The viewer is not that great (yet) and I prefer Foxit PDF viewer over it, except for the Rikaichan/sama thing.

That said, I have some issues with it, where CJK text shows blank (Rikaichan/sama still work when you hover over the blanks), so I had to disable it and switch back to Foxit anyway.

Anyone else with this issue, or does it work normally for you? I've googled, but found nothing...

Windows 7 here, with English as the default OS and browser language. No fonts are missing, as far as I know...

Edit: Just tried on XP and it works. Dafuq is with my Win7?

I created a PDF with vertical text and aozora formatting using 青P and it completely failed with Firefox 19. All of the text for each page was squished into a single line. On the other hand, horizontal formatting worked fine so long as I didn't attempt to embed a font.

Edit: I tried with both Windows XP and Windows 7 and both looked the same.

PDFs with embedded fonts work for me on 19.0.1 (I think, or FF is just displaying text with a different font). Don't have a pdf with vertical text to try, but I think I'll keep the native pdf viewer on XP, and Foxit on 7, since it doesn't work there for some reason.

CJK extension B characters don't show up, however.

Replying to myself here....

PDF files with vertical text seem to display correctly with Firefox 22. I've confirmed that Rikaisama also works with such files, though it would be nice if the popup did a better job of not occluding the text. Maybe I'll add an option for that in the next version.
