I'm not sure if this would be of use to anybody, but it's a free e-book about reading news articles (specifically crime) with Japanese and English translations, sadly it's ipad only at the moment...

It's got vocabulary lists, some information on the format of newspaper articles and might be a decent resource for those at the right level. It's going to stay free so if it is useful then feel free to add it to resource lists etc.
