So who are your favorites and not so favorites?

Personally speaking, I enjoy
Ciaela (She is just so...normal? Her humor is so subtle and her information is really good. A lot of her vids are pretty good emotional boosters as well)
kerokerorin813 (she just kind of fascinates me. she's a bit ditzy, but her japanese is very good. Her speaking blows me away every time)
BusanKevin (his info has really helped me, and have you seen his baby? He's my favorite everyday-life-in-Japan vlogger)
Myargonauts (was into him when I thought I wanted to be a JET...though I'm past that, there's something about Jason that's just so friendly and inviting.)

..but then again, I have a hard time watching
Kemushichan (she has this weird unnatural way of talking in her videos..and her constant hand movements and exaggerated facial expressions are distracting)
tkyosam (His sense of humor is kind of...immature? I also don't agree with him on a lot of things which makes it a bit hard to watch some of his videos),
myhusbandisjapanese (...it's the voice and her humor. It's all in my taste, so maybe somebody else can see something they like in her).

Mine are

Gimmeaflakeman (among his other channels)- 20+ years of living in japan, tonnnnns of interesting stuff on there. tons of lessons involving current news too

bobbyjudo - doesnt post as often anymore, but has lived there for quite a while and has a cooking show on japanese tv. often does videos in japanese too.

unrested- has some good cultural info

those are my favorite non-japanese jvloggers!

Quick question, what is a JET? Some kind of exchange program?

Edit: Found it out. I'm just currently careful whenever I hear Japanese abbreviations I don't know.. A Japanese friend told me some funny facts about Japan. Including hikkikmori, otaku, neet and what not.

I actually quite like tkyosam, he's a bit full on but I've talked to him a few times and he's a chill guy.

I applied to the JET programme so Myargonauts is the resident youtube expert on that topic! Have sent him numerous emails and he always responds with useful information.

I watch a lot of Gimmeaflakeman; he's made a heck of a lot of videos on a few different channels so his content is a little hard to manage, but it's useful nonetheless.

I used to watch Ciaela before she was that popular, but found myself falling in love with her so I don't watch her videos too often these days haha.

I also used to occasionally watch applemilk something, but she was quite annoying sometimes and I think she did some camshows or something and went off the radar.

MexicanSamurai is the best, he keeps it real.

Maybe a bit on the mundane side, but I liked watching this fellow's videos a lot http://www.youtube.com/user/MrStepupMovies

He's just a regular studious kid who talks about the books and study materials he uses and recommends. I think he may be Japanese though - but is there any reason to limit our preferences to non-Japanese?

Well I just meant non-Japanese in the sense of people who don't live there/don't speak the language. I figured there was already a thread about native speakers and podcasts/youtube vids, so I wanted something a bit..fresher? big_smile
