Missed Anki for a while

Long story short, I had exams for the last 3 weeks and missed doing Anki on most of them due to bad planing and a serious lack of time. Now I have 860 due cards, and 825 new to finish RTK 1. I plan to do at least 350 reviews daily, and then concentrate on the new cards once all the "cards to review" counter has droppen to 0. Has anyone had experience with piled up reviews, and how long did it take for you to drop them to under 100 daily? Did you rush it or take your time? From the first 50 I did, I failed like 70%..

My big plan was to finish RTK 1 by March 1st. Do you still think it's realistic or should I push it back another month? I just want to start learning fun stuff that I can actually use.

Getting back into the habit of doing Anki daily is going to be a pain in the a.. but it's a necessary evil.. sad

Given the low retention rate I'd set the limit of daily reviews to 200 or less; better to properly review 100 times than to rush through 350 items since you'll just be seeing them the following day anyway. Also, a realistic goal means that you get to see the "reviews done for today" message for a bit of a morale boost. If you feel up to it then just custom study another 50 at a time.
Morale is vital when coming back from a break smile.

Great advice, thank you. My recollection rate went up, as my mature cards started coming up. Luckily I remember most of them. Still going to set the review counter to 200 and rejoice every time I see the 0. big_smile

It actually wasn't that bad. Much faster than I thought. I expected to spend 10 days reviewing until I had time to study new cards, but Heisig and anki really did an amazing job, and all it took was a little reminder to remember the cards the next time I saw them.

It took me 4 days averaging 350 reviews to get everything done. Tommorow I have a big bunch with 120 cards to review, but after that it gets pretty easy. 60 reviews for days 2 - 4 and 20 - 30 for day 5+. Seeing the 0 really made me motivated, thanks for the tip again Zgarbas.

Just continue on as normal. Don't beat yourself up for missing a day or two. It's perfectly normal and won't hurt your SRS effectiveness in the long run.
