Looks like a lot of people didn't go too well for this one but there's always chance for improvement. I suggest we restart this 1st of next month and make this a monthly challenge.

First of all expect a summary for #1 tomorrow, I'm quite busy now so I couldn't be more active this time around.

I think it would be best to postpone another round so it aligns with Tadoku and lasts a full month. It would also give a longer notice to everyone who wants to participate, besides you all need a well earned break... wink

It's been a very productive month for some of us, while others struggled to find their pace.

The winner of the very first edition of 1M Challenge - NHK News Easy & NHK News is:

pm215 (42 days combined with perfect record in both types of news except weekends)

2nd place goes to:

hirata (35 days combined)

3rd place goes to:

mekkanare (32 days combined)

Honorable mentions:
Rael89(31), anritsi(30), Devvar (29), mustermann(28), pippi(26), guian(24)

Overall, 337 days were logged between 18 active participants that combines into 1011 articles read. Its quite a steep drop from the previous month but considering we lost exactly 10 people the score per head is much higher than it was previously. That means only one thing: we are reading more and more, at least some of us wink

As I said previously, next Challenge with exactly the same rules will start on March 1st. I've locked access to Sheet #1 but the good news is, you can start signing up for 1M Challenge - NHK News Easy & NHK News #2 even without the official announcement thread by putting your nick on the list in Sheet #2 in the exactly same file!!

Woo, thanks. I kind of got into a rhythm that worked for me: listen to the 'easy' audio without reading along; then listen/watch the video; then read the 'normal' text. (Reading is my stronger skill so I wanted to practice doing the listening 'cold'.)

I found this page that gives some tips about watching news:

I started watching some early for practice, and man... it sure is a slap in the face when you realize how bad your listening truly is. I wonder if I should use pm215's method that he mentioned about 'easy' audio, then video, then 'normal' text. Obviously I don't want to spend too much time on a single article as that would make me get bored really fast I assume.

Ugh, listening...
I've been wanting to make a video blog, so maybe I could make one of me reading the news articles during this challenge. Perhaps it would do nothing for me, though.
