I recommend the 日本語スピードマスター Series. They just released the last tome, that covers up to N1. cool

This is a good one. I got it real cheap and use it pretty much daily. Ends up coming to about a penny for every forty sentences if you buy it used for $4.00 (with shipping).

I'm not too sure, since they're not numbered and the number of words on each page varies. There's 1097 pages with anywhere from about 5 to 12 (maybe even more on some) words on each page. I would guess 10k. There is no audio, however, if that is something you're looking for. I've used it in conjunction with Core 6k, KO2001 and other audio Anki decks.
